The offensive line

Post by TomCat88 » Sun Sep 25, 2022 8:37 am

Not enough superlatives. They’re the MVPs of the team, if not the BSC, thus far. They’re not getting enough credit.

MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Crazy to think what this group could look like in a couple years…. They look amazing, and they are all sophomores.

Yup, one will make all American and retire, one will play for USC, and one will declare early for the draft. I said in the spring that one or two will be on the final all conference team.

Ha ha, don't say that! But I'll echo what others have said, cannot be emphasized enough how good they are playing, especially for being so young and inexperienced. I don't know if we have everything in place yet to win the National Championship THIS year (Never say never), but with this line and running attack, I think it could happen next year or the following year. Our running attack will be dominant for a long time.

100%

They’re the story of the season so far!

And 4/5 are together for 3 seasons!

The play before the third quarter TD. Third and 8. Go watch that play on YouTube. The blocking is devastating. Teams almost have to play the run on passing downs.

Love the O line. Love their dominance and youth. But if they are soph’s and a jr aren’t these Choates recruits? Love Vigen but I don’t believe these were his signees.

Marcus Wehr was a D lineman until last spring so that's a good Vigen decision. Omar Aigbedion transfered in this past spring. Vigen started an undersized Perkins at C as a freshman and stuck with him through some bumps in the road. So I'd say Vigen and Army still have a pretty big hand in rebuilding from last year's team.

I need to resurrect this thread. Last night they were outstanding again. I couldn’t believe how much time Chambers had on some of his passes, plus two long touchdown runs where he wasn’t even touched! Although I didn’t get to watch the first one because of ESPN’s screwup.

One thing I didn’t watch but I’m curious about is if he rotated offensive lineman during this game. I heard that we had a new starter for this weeks game evidently that worked out petty well.

Even Coon had a pretty good night when everybody in the house knew we were going to run the ball. Outstanding work by our online.

Pre season- “The OL is way too young and undersized…. Definitely the teams biggest weakness this year…. The secondary is our biggest strength though, and will keep us in every game!”

Ha…. Not quite how it has played out.

So impressed with this OL, they have been incredible! I Can’t imagine what they will look like the next 2 years….

The O line was great last night! And I'll also credit our WRs, they blocked their asses off last night. Chamber's 80 yard TD around the right side was due to a great seal block, and 2 WRs with great blocks outside. Chambers ran right between them, and was never touched on that whole run.

Armstrong is quietly "pretty good" with the OL.

Yep, doesn't get enough credit. He will coordinate an offense again someday. We are lucky to have him.

At the start of season, everyone said we are thin at running back this year. Now, we have like 4 running backs out with injuries.
With offense line, even I could shine. Lol.

Well I hate to even say this. But, we've had a few OL with a ton of experience hit that Portal button when we thought that person(s) would anchor us.
