All-Bobcat Team by Bobcatnation QB

Post by luckyirishguy25 » Wed Jun 29, 2022 1:25 pm

I though i'd be fun to have everyone vote for the best players and put together the roster to see how it turns out.

Write in if you wish to nominate someone not on the list.

Dakota Prukop should be on there. Sure the record wasn't what the fans wanted and some argue he was only a stat collector but Dakota is arguably the best dual-threat QB MSU has ever had. Not best QB overall, but a true dual-threat.

Kelly Bradley is the only one of those to win a national championship, I think. Can't remember who was the qb on the 56 and 76 teams.

Dennehy in ‘76 and Dave Alt in ‘56.

Denarius and Lulay were obviously great runners but Dakota could take one to the house himself or throw bombs on the money for touchdowns.

I agree. Prukop was ridiculously athletic, and possibly the greatest offensive player in the history of our program. Lulay, however, was a gamer,,,a winner…

I love Lulay, but he’s the only QB on this list who never won a playoff game.

Dakota bailed on his team his senior year…. No way he can be considered the best on this list.

Had he stayed- his career numbers would have been nuts, potential playoff wins, all American senior year, Walter Payton candidate…. Yes, he absolutely could have been #1 on the list. But the team captain left the team for “greener pastures” when they needed him the most during a coaching change.

No way he can be considered the best.

Yeah, looking back, it’s still shocking that none of the Lulay teams won a playoff game….. Lulay, roger Cooper, Montoya, cordeiro, Ioane, Joey Thomas, ryan Johnson, junior adams….. some crazy talent on those teams.

This just shows why talent alone doesn't make a successful program. There's just something about knowing how to win; expecting to win. If I'm not mistaken, it was just a handful of years ago when basically the whole team started staying in Bozeman for the summer to stay in shape and keep practicing without coaches. Obviously the facility improvements have helped, just like the nutrition, sold out games, technology investments, and even having every game on TV. This program has really taken a huge step forward, not only in talent, but even more so in the little things that make a program great.

I keep flipping a coin between Dennehy and Bradley and keep wondering why Dennis is not an option.

Never said he was the best. Just arguably the best dual-threat. Leadership? For the offense sure. Whole team? Meh. Just think he deserves consideration. "Bailed" on his team is interesting because a FCS QB shouldn't be considering Oregon or....ALABAMA if he can legitimately go there his senior year.

Also, several current and former stars of the last two teams have had some interesting choices to make themselves after completing their senior seasons. Connor Wood wasn't the only player to have FBS offers on the transfer table with those decisions being made very close to last year starting.

But making the playoffs in his day was the same as making the second round for McGhee or Prukop. And Rolovich won a game at QB so do we really want that to be the measuring stick! :P

Anyhoo, if I was in a foxhole, I know who I'm picking off that list.

EDit: can we get Andersen's name spelled right? Jeesh

Unfortunately it won't let me edit the poll.

Lulay had the most heart of the group. You could never count us out when he was QB. He accomplished a ton at the position after his time in Bozeman. He’s the best in my opinion.
