Gold Rush game in against McNeese State.
I think our new strategy for hiring coaches is to look to see who our first game is against in upcoming season, and then hire from that staff.
I don't think I want anyone from Dixie State next year. Maybe we can skip a week and steal from SDSU instead. :)
If he stay's for 2 years and then we have Dixie state covered. He coached there too.
Just saw that. He gets around.

Started out rising the ranks pretty well, then got in trouble. Then got back into it, climbed the ranks again, and got into trouble again.

Seems like a good coach though.

Vigen's going to have to keep his eye on him but seems like a good hire on the field.

Just don’t drink and drive is really it. The recruiting thing is a non-issue imo, just following orders. Gregorak arguably had bigger off field issues than Garza.

I like that Vigen has worked with him in the past and the two of them have a working relationship already established. He could certainly open up some texas recruiting pipelines.

Don't love the history but certainly love the experience.

Had a pretty good D in an offense loving conference last year. His D held UIW and SELA to some of their lowest regular season outputs.

McNeese did give up the 114th most passing yards in the country last year, but they also played Cam Ward and Coley Kelley twice each.

Good grief! Who’s next after Dixie? I hope not Tennessee.

Being a bridesmaid for 20 years and never the bride gives me pause, but let's see what he can do.

It's hard to tell, but did he and Shawn Howe work together at Dixie State and/or USC? I can't tell if they had some overlap, or if they barely missed each other at each of those places.

They were together for one year at Dixie, where Howe was the DC. They may have very briefly touched paths while at Tennessee, but I don’t think so. USC was pretty far apart.

Willie Mack was at USC in 2010, and Howe was there (the first time) in 2011 and 2012. Howe then came back to USC in 2019.

I see the plan now, I think. Gather up all the best former ndsu guys and then turn the tables on the giant. 🤔
And I like it

I am excited about this hire. Coach is getting guys he trusts in key positions. We will be fine...as long as someone teaches him how to use Uber.

So what the story with Garza? His “past issues” got brought up a bunch...
