FCS Stats Poll - Cats to #6

Post by catatac » Mon Oct 25, 2021 11:35 am

I can't find the other thread where we were predicting this week's poll but I said we'd move up one or two spots, and we did end up moving 2 from #8 to #6. We knew they'd move SDSU below us but EWU was the question mark... they moved them right behind us to #7. Weber moves into the top 25 as well so we now have 6 Big Sky teams in the top 25.

We might move again during our bye due to a couple possible upsets for teams ahead of us in the polls.

Hmm. I think that's a little too big of a drop for EWU after a 1 point loss to a solid Weber team. I'd have ewu and MSU swapped. But in the end it won't matter much, since they play in 2 weeks.

What a huge game that will be! Winner likely gets a high seed, loser falls to the seed bubble ranking around 8-10.

Hoofta. Great for the Cats...but EWU is going to have a bag of axes to grind going into our game in Cheney...sure hope Vigen gets the Cats up for that game. I think he will. Gonna he a helluva fight.

If they can’t get up for that game on their own, they don’t deserve it. Not even once did a motivational speech make me play better or harder on the field. That stuff is overrated.

Does NDSU really play Missouri State this week? It's like Deja vu all over again.

My bad, just saw North Dakota when I went down the list of game in MVFC and wasn't paying close enough attention. Corrected.

EWU losing to Weber may have cost an ESPN Gameday in Cheney against MSU.

Almost wanted EWU to win because of that possibility.

Wow, really?! I would never have thought that Cheney hosting GameDay is even a remote possibility. I wonder what ESPN's thinking is behind considering this? The BSC should try to work a deal to move Cat-Griz to a weekend that GameDay would consider going to either Missoula or Bozeman. I don't think the weekend they play on currently is ever going to be an option due to all the other big games going on that weekend.

There were rumors of a Big Sky ESPN Gameday. Maybe if the Cats and Griz win their next two games it can be 10-1 @ 9-2 in Missoula.

That's cool. I hope they do it. Actually, I just looked, and there aren't a lot of marquee games on the slate the weekend of Cat-Griz.

I think most of the big FBS games are the week following ‘Cats beat griz 5 straight. They talked about it during the Weber State game, that they are looking for a great FCS matchup to bring Game Day west. Maybe next year, in Bozeman!

Even 9-2 UM and 9-2 MSU would be a good location. As much crap as I give them, Missoula’s game day experience is very unique and they would have an impressive turnout at 8am for the show. I’ve gone to Gamedays in Seattle and Eugene and it is a great vibe and a lot of fun. Definitely worth getting up early for at least once in life, and I did twice.

They do have a good game day experience and an awesome stadium, but MSU has a better tailgating experience.

With tents directly outside the stadium, yes, MSU is better. With real tailgates out of cars, UM is better for me, and I’ve been to both stadiums a lot.

I really think GameDay in Bozeman would be a better scene. UM's draw is inside its stadium, but I think the surrounding area, which GameDay is all about, is a lot better in Bozeman. I'm just not sure if the weather would cooperate for a Cat-Griz Game. You might end up with no one in the back drop because it's only about 5 degrees with a -20 wind chill. If they would've had GameDay at MSU on Gold Rush, they would've had a winner for sure. Not a marquee matchup though. That's something they could work out by, for instance, scheduling a top ten opponent for Gold Rush.
