Hello Bobcats!!
Howdy Bobcat fans!
Just wanted to drop a note saying we are very excited to get the season underway, and I know you are too!
From what I've heard about your QB, it actually makes me a little nervous that he might keep you guys in the game and make it close. Our secondary is our weak link, in my opinion. And I'm not sure we are quite ready or polished with our new offensive system. If we get off to a slow start, and you guys come out strong, could be interesting.
I'm assuming those of you making the trip will be going to Eskimo Joe's before the game??

TC,
We sure as heck aren't travelling all the way to Stillwater just to hand the football game to you guys. OSU very well might win the game big time and OSU should win big time but the Cats are going to give you a fight. Count on it.
Looking forward to meeting you & buying you a frosty beer at Eskimo Joes.
P.S. I like Texas A & M over Texas and Oklahoma this year. Just a gut feeling. Do me a favor and (OSU) beat Oklahoma this year just in case I'm wrong.

Another question...
I like to get views of people from other parts of the country, see what they know or think about our school.
What kind of reputation does OSU have up there (if any)? Mostly a basketball school? Does our football team get any kind of recognition, or are we pretty much considered one of those "other Big XII school?"

Except for a little back named Barry Sanders, I know little about OSU football. I couldn't see a Big Sky team beating even the worst Big XII team, however; any college football fan knows the level of play in your conference is outstanding.
That's why, as much as I'd like to see us give you a "close game", I simply can't see it happening. I'd like to see us put at least 17 points on the board, just to confirm that our offense IS as good as we hope but when I look at the size & speed of your D, 17 might be a pipe dream, even with all the turmoil you guys have gone through. I was over at the Orange Power site earlier and saw a post on your 3 running backs & your fullback and to sum them up in 1 word: SCARY. Combine those 4 with our conversion to the 3-4 defense and I'll be impressed if we give up less than 200 yards on the ground.
The good news is we're only a week away from finding out!

Grizzlies: 2-5 when it matters most

OSU = basketball in my eyes, but I really don't pay attention to IA football anymore. It's all about IAA for this Montanan.

Griz fan here! Only a couple hundred miles further west, into the "good part of the state", but I know a lot about OSU football. 2 sets of inlaws live outside of Tulsa and attend almost all OSU games including basketball and wrestling. Personally. I root for OSU in all things except when they play USC, UCLA (basketball only) and...............Texas and OU!!!! Sorry, but I've been an OU fan since I was a little kid!Tulsa Cowboy wrote:Another question...

I think OSU and MSU have some similarities that might make our fans relate to each-other a bit more.
A.) We are treated as second class citizens by both of our respective "in-state" rivals.
B.) We've both kicked that same rivals butt a couple of times in the last few years!
Another thing I know about OSU and MSU is that they are both scrambling hard to improve their programs and facilities. The "Next Level" program in Stillwater looks very impressive.
And even tho it's already been mentioned, I would be amiss if I didn't mention my favorite player of all time, Barry Sanders. I loved watching him rack up amazing returns and awe inspiring runs for the Cowboys (and Lions, of course).
Anyway, I gotta go golf... see all you foolios later.

OSU image
OSU means spirit. Demonstrations of spirit in the street Wednesday of the OU game. Game day, fans pushing against the fence around the stadium bending it over, and then blowing through the turnstiles to get the best seat. Picture an older woman riding through the gate on the shoulders of the crowd. Beating great teams, or at least beating them up physically on the field. Making the receiver pay for that catch. Lots of speed. Depth at every position, great kicking. A packed house for a dual wrestling match, which broke out into a brawl between dozens of spectators on the mat. Hundreds of streakers running down the strip (Washington St.) amidst an insane mob of 2,000, and some crushed cars. Launching the Sirloin Stockade Cow into Theta Pond. An angry fan pulling a no parking sign out of the ground (with concrete ball) and throwing it into traffic. "Whop em up the side of the head!" cheers. Defiance in the face of overwhelming odds. Violent weather. Cowboy spirit. Leading the NCAA's for individual yards rushing three years in a row with three backs, Thomas, Sanders and Hudson. Yes I'm a Bobcat, but I wasn't always. When I moved to Bozeman it was "Oh I get it, UM is like OU." Spirit. Spirit!!
