I think that people are starting to recognize that the BSC is a powerhouse football conference. The problem is that we don’t have any other 1-AA conferences nearby, so we all play the same teams every year- Cal Poly, UC Davis, Southern Utah, St. Mary, ect. In the past you didn’t see very many games pitting BSC Schools with eastern and southern 1-AA teams. We didn’t have a measuring stick. Now since a lot of the BSC Schools are expanding their travels to the eastern and southern parts of the country we will see more respect for our conference’s ability to play football, and thus more respect in the polls.
I had completely forgot about NAU almost getting past mcneese, my bad. The best thing for all of the sky is just like you said, expanding their schedules to play these "powerhouses" from the east and south. i know its tough due to scheduling conflicts and the ever elusive dollar, but just like mquast said, it has to be done. I don't think it's going to be a problem getting the respect the sky needs after this year to be honest. people have started to take notice and need to be wary. and hopefully, we can have three first round home games from big sky teams. on a side note, what other sky team made the playoffs in 2002...sorry to ask, but i feel like an idiot for putting up wrong info.

NAU did almost get past McNeese, they spanked them 35 - 3 on their field, the promptly got spanked at home by Florida Atlantic in the second round. Coupled with EWU's win this year, a Big Sky team has gone on the road to beat the #1 seed the last two years. MSU almost started the trend in 2002 at McNeese.

Also, there were only two Sky teams in the playoffs in 2002, MSU and UM. A good resource for past playoff results can be found on i-aa.org at http://www.i-aa.org/section_front.asp?arttypeid=568

thanks a ton kmax. now that i think about it, i actually watched the NAU game after the cats lost to northern iowa. i'll be honest at that point, i had more then a few drinks in me and completely forgot that NAU actually won. thanks for clearing that up for me though. i thought that MSU and UM were the only two in 2002, but now we know for sure. cheers.

Two years in a row, a conference has had four teams make the playoffs. Should be interesting to watch this year to see if we get at least three, although there's really only one that I really care about. Would like to see EWU and just about anybody else other than that place a couple of hundred miles west of us represent us

In spite of numerous cat posters using the famous battle cry "almost", it appears this poll is one of the most accurate to date...
