PEEBLES TO WALK ON
I just heard that Matt Peebles (sp?) is going to walk on to the football team next year. He was a first team all state player for Gardner in B-Ball.
Good luck next year Matt.

Any more information on this kid? Think he will be able to start in a few years? Position?
I'm so desperate for football info right now it's sick.

Another interesting tidbit from this same article:HelenaIR wrote:MSU has added three 'preferred' walk-ons to its 90-man roster. Two are out of Skyview High School in Billings, while the other is from Shields Valley High School.......Matt Peebles, a 6-foot-2, 255-pound defensive lineman, was a first team Class C All-State performer on both offense (center) and defense (end) the past two years. He also competes in basketball and track (discus).
HelenaIR wrote:From the bleachers: Five ex-Northern Arizona Lumberjack assistants were on the sidelines at Super Bowl XXXIX: Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid, Eagle assistants Brad Childress (offensive coordinator), Tom Melvin (tight ends) and Marty Mornhinweg (senior assistant) and Dante Scarnecchia, the assistant head/offensive line coach of New England. Mornhinweg was also a quarterback at Montana in the mid-80s.

A preferred walk-on will be able to get carried off the field after the last two plays while the crowd chants "Rudy, Rudy, Rudy..."

In all seriousness, I think that a "preferred walk-on" has the assumption of already claiming a spot on the 90-man roster, just without a schollie. A regular run-of-the-mill walk-on will have to try out to make the squad in the fall.mslacat wrote:OK would someone define the difference between a "preferred walk-on" and a "walk-on"!?
