Who's in and who's out for Spring Practice
i am curious to know who will be playing in spring practices.... some of my question marks: e. smith, k. hunter, m. milton, e. groves, j. hirst, p. jensen, r. gatewood, d. rodgers, n. merudes, z. wolf, t. bolton, c. austin, and anyone else that someone has heard about.
I hope a lot of these players are healthy but there are 9 or 10 starters on that list above. I understand how wolf and jensen probably won't be back because of major surguries....

Austin was injured for part of last year if I remember correctly, I think he is just curious if all these players who were injured at one point or another last year are going to be healthy for spring ball. Or they didn't play last year for various other reasons.
Are you sure Milton is done? If so, that is bad news because I was pretty impressed with him when I got to see him play, he busted a big run vs CSU I really liked. Is it career ending do you know, or maybe just this season?

My source tells me Morris has irreparable nerve damage in his shoulder. He'll stay w/the team but in a coaching capacity of some sort. In retrospect, it puts the Cole non-visit and the Bass no-show in a little different light.CelticCat wrote:Austin was injured for part of last year if I remember correctly, I think he is just curious if all these players who were injured at one point or another last year are going to be healthy for spring ball. I have faith in JD - it was his first year in a 1AA setting, I'm sure he was a stud the way he was at JuCo. I'll bet he's been working out pretty hard in the offseason, and combine that with the fact I think we are going to be more of a balance team this year, I think he should have a solid, 1000 yard year. Our OL should be really good this year, along with the fact I have heard ("heard") we should be running more 2 TE sets this year. Keep in mind I remember at least 3 40+ yard runs by JD where they were called back for penalties. Count those plays, defenses start stuffing the box a bit more, passing game opens up...
If we could have a running game equal to our passing game, I see no reason we wouldn't win the Sky, regardless if our D improves that much or not.

Domineck came to Bozeman fat and out of shape, and he never got into great shape during last season. I have a feeling that we will see a ripped and much more in-shape Justin Domineck next year, and I think he will have a big year. Just a hunch.
I'm pretty sure that I have been telling everyone for a long time that Milton would not be coming back. Nerve damage and the like, that is kind of something I know a lot about, you know?
This is really unfortunate for Morris, he looked like he could have been a very good player. Sadly, when you suffer nerve damage like he did, you don't just take a pill and rest for a month and it's all better. He should regain some of that nerve through the next few years, but he will probably never have the same feeling/control with that arm like he did before the injury. Good luck to you, Morris! We wish the best for you and your future.
Don't forget, guys, Kramer is still hitting the recruiting trail. Some guys may become available after spring ball. Not to mention, I think the coaches like who we have at RB. Domineck will be much better next year as long as he solves his nasty bout of fumblitis. I think the coaches like Evin Graves a whole lot, too.
Now, what is this about Jensen and Wolf? I hope to god that isn't true. If so, our deep and formidable offensive line just became a liability again.

Have heard rumors of the same, can't get names on who is leading the TE sets. Any surprises?CelticCat wrote: along with the fact I have heard ("heard") we should be running more 2 TE sets this year.
Any news on Domineck? Spring ball should be in the lifting/conditioning/40 drills, any word on his condition/times?
T. Bolton, heard he has been lifting all along this year, last week kicked for first time, was something like 13 for 15 with alot more distance due to bulk/strength gained over the year. Curious about long snapper and holder for this year, anyone know?
As with WBTFG I too am curious about Gathing, have not heard if he is still in the mix.
Once again, any word on T. Lulay, safety or receiver?

I could be wrong on that, but someone within the athletic department told me that was the case.profisme wrote:I wasn't aware that Kramer is no longer on the team. I saw him at a little get together at Epi King and Kory Austin's place. I guess I just assumed he was still on the team......
Also, it sounds as if Garrin Brewton has also been cut from the team along with Alley, Williams, and Beall

What I hear is Jensen will be part of spring, possibly not back to back days due to leg getting stiff, but still in pads and playing. He looks like a solid 285 to 290 now. Big change from last year.BozoneCat wrote:Now, what is this about Jensen and Wolf? I hope to god that isn't true. If so, our deep and formidable offensive line just became a liability again.
Don't know about Wolf. But I think they expect no problems for Fall. Berkland might take some reps at center during the spring.

I could see Birkland actually doing pretty well at center. He is short/compact and low to the ground .. hard to get any leverage on etc. If Saucedo might be playing left tackle this year, I could see Birkland maybe moving over to center maybe if we need him there. We should have pretty good depth on the OL this year (especially if Hirst can come back full strength). It should be one of our strengths this year.BobcatLionFan wrote:What I hear is Jensen will be part of spring, possibly not back to back days due to leg getting stiff, but still in pads and playing. It actually looks like there are 6 main OL (Hirst, Jensen, Bolton, Fig, Wolf, and Berkland). If anyone gets hurt, the odd man out (possibly Berkland for now) moves in and there is one shift (Fig or Berkland to center or Bolton to either tackle). There is more competition between the six for the five spots than there is for a new player moving into the mix for Fall. It seems to me that the young turks (Smith, Beniger, Saucedo, DeCock) wait one year and play as Sophs (or Junior in the case of DeCock) when Wolf, Bolton, and Fig leave next year. Seems they are trying to have Saucedo work at Guard because of the middle of the line leaving after this coming year and only Smith being left in that area (besides Berkland).CARDIAC_CATS wrote:BobcatLionFan wrote:I could see Birkland actually doing pretty well at center. Dont forget that Birkland is pretty smart kid as well. Comes in handy when the center is calling out blocking schemes.CARDIAC_CATS wrote:I could see Birkland actually doing pretty well at center.
