HOW BOUT SOME PERKS?
Somebody should contact all the potential candidates if Krames leaves and get them to insist upon new skyboxes, artificial turf, and lights before the start of the 2006 season as a condition to taking the job.

First there would be an advertisement in the Comical. Then there would be a search committee formed. Then there would be a hiring process. Then Fields would dally. In the end, he'd finally make the right decision, but not before milking the press for a few weeks. Then, if his decision was incorrect, he would remind people that the committee, not just himself, studied the decision long and hard before they decided to proceed. Thus, he himself is not responisble or culpable. The committee is...anything to get Fields off the dime and spend some school $$ on the football program

Would lights really benefit the program? Apparently, if ESPN wants a night game, they will bring in their own lights.
I like the idea of some new artificial turf, becuase as we continue to get better, we don't want to get ourselves into the problem of hosting back to back playoff games and having to do so on grass that can not recoup from the previous week due to the December weather.
Personally, I think a committment by MSU to provide funds to the coach to directly improve the performance of the team (weights, better AV equipement, Nike headbands, whatever) would go a lot further with prospective coaches.

To repeat what others have said, requires education; to challenge it, requires brains.

I shouldn't pick on AD Fields niggardly attitude toward our football program; I'll bet that he would jump at the chance to by each of the kids a headband.FiveApples wrote:Personally, I think a committment by MSU to provide funds to the coach to directly improve the performance of the team (weights, better AV equipement, Nike headbands, whatever) would go a lot further with prospective coaches.
