Montana recruits who gets the best ones?

Post by Cat turned Griz » Sun Aug 26, 2012 10:59 am

Every year the debate between Griz and Cat fans is who gets the best Montana football talent. I had a discussion Friday night in Miles City at the Rocky game with a Cat fan that the Cats always get the better Montana talent. I said if that's true why is their only 2 Cat alums from Montana in the NFl (Fletcher and Person). The Griz have 7 (Mariani, Bierman, Hilliard, Schilling, Anderson, Carpenter and Horn. I think for the most part the BEST Montana football talent come play for the Griz for these reasons: The Griz own the over all record against the Cats by a long way. The Griz have better facilities and fan base. The best Montana HS kids come to play in Grizzoula because they know that brings them a better opportunity to play at the next level.

Tired topic so I'm wondering why I bit and read this post. I can agree in some part with all of the comments you shared except that "uM?" has a better fan base. Not true, and often proven by first time griz posters on this forum.......and the other griz-trolls that continue to fester on here.

Depends on the year. Lately MSU has had the advantage IMO. With a struggling economy, it seems like a lot of the recent recruits have been choosing MSU over um for academic reasons

Exactly the fact that your name says what it says shows a lot about your character! Seems to me if I was a griz or a cat I wouldn't want a flip flopper who decides his team, simply due to changing circumstances. Pathetic person you are cat turned griz.

Since you are new to BN. Let me be the first to tell you. This sort of topic would go in the Smack Forum. That is where you may find better smack recruits to get to read your crappy smack posts. :-({|=

Levi Horn was technically born in Spokane. He is a tribal member of the Cheyenne. One of his parents is from Montana and they worked in Spokane.

I don't know if anyone here knows this, but one of the three national title wins by the Cats was actually a tie. ;)

At least UM fans are starting to talk football again. I was getting tired of hearing about tasers, DUI's, date rapes, Saudi students, staff corruption, coach/ad firings, NCAA/doj/doe investigations, conspiracies at the missoulian newspaper....etc.

After the past year in missoula, I actually welcome a little football smack.

Welcome to the board

While that may have been the case in the past, I really don't think that is the case currently. Which players go to which college has a lot more to do with family tradition, which major they are thinking about studying etc.

As far as football teams goes, Kramer got us back to competing on the field and Coach Ash has really carried that on brought the whole program along.

They claim John Elway too, he played little griz football at one point.

Ashley Kroon? Is that you?

There's a saying over on egriz about the Bobcat posters that frequent their board.... something about envy...

Retiring my moniker. It's time to ride off into the sunset. It's been a fun ride. Go Cats.

This is how some idiot decides to start his Sunday. "Hmmm, how about I go to the other team's board and tell them why my team is better. I'm sure they'll welcome me with open arms and we'll have a decent discussion. After all, I used to be on their side, but since one team was doing better for a little while I jumped ship. How could this possibly start a fight?"

Can't even believe I read this far and posted. Beat it, dummy.

MSU has more starters and overall more players from Montana. Not that it matters, but that would be one indicator of who is having more success if you want to call it that. With atmosphere and wins being equal the recruiting is gonna be equal.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Bingo, your spot on with that one Tom! If you don't believe it look at who has had more starters and contributors the last five years. Cat turned griz.......Sit on it you unoriginal prick!
