What ever happened to Carlito Brigante?
The kid he was promoting a couple of years ago was the #1 JUCO net punter (40.2 per) in CA last week, and is #2 after three games (39.0 per vs. 39.1 per for weekly leader - Riverside City).

No idea. And I don't think anyone cares.
We're happy with Fisher punting for us. It would have been hard to beat out Fisher.

OK. But when it says SR on the roster, that means he won't be punting next year.longhorn_22 wrote:No idea. And I don't think anyone cares.

Not bad for JUCO, I guess.
But seeing how Eric Fisher averaged 55 yards per punt last weekend against Dixie, and is currently averaging 41.7 yards for the season (http://espn.go.com/college-football/sta ... s/group/81" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), I think we're more than happy. But thank you for your concern, Mr. Sorbo

Re: What ever happened to Carlito Brigante?
His (Fisher) is a gross, not a net average. Big difference. By and large, most JUCO games in CA are played at sea level. NAU punter (also WR), went from 42 gross avg in Tucson to 51 gross avg in Flagstaff. JUCO player comes to Montana, 45 net. Fisher averaged 55 yards because of a 70+ yarder. Take the median punt, and that is his central tendency. All punters in Montana, with the possible exceptions of UM-Western and Rocky Mountain have nice healthy averages compared to their flat-landing colleagues.Old Skool Cat wrote:Not bad for JUCO, I guess. BTW, I hope you "cats" have figured out already that Wren at Griz basically drives the ball and lets his gunners follow it down the field as it rolls. At 6'6" he has the advantage of looking for areas of green down the field, and that is where he places it. His uncle did the same thing at SC. Find a returner who can anticipate his placement, and his 45+ net punts become 15-20 net punts.

I don't think any punter will ever be offered a scholarship, which I imagine is about the going rate for punters. I would think any punter (here, Missoula, elsewhere, etc) would have to play their way on the team first and provide other kinds of value to a team before he would rate any level of scholarship.

Try this link. Montana St. is 59th in FCS for net average. JUCO punter would be third in Big Sky and 12th in FCS.Old Skool Cat wrote:Not bad for JUCO, I guess. Re: What ever happened to Carlito Brigante?
D2 schools have only 36 scholarships to give, and they will offer a national level JUCO kicker more than the average going rate for a non-specialist (0.30 to 0.35 is standard and customary at D2 level). They hate to do it, but they want game changers.Cledus wrote:Just throwing this out there...oiger sorbo wrote:OK. Make that 11th in FCS - one position above Weber State.oiger sorbo wrote:Try this link. Montana St. is 59th in FCS for net average. Not sure what you are trying to say. Confused about kicking at altitude vs. sea level?1BadBobcat wrote:![]()

Oh, I get it. You are saying that John Wayne used to drive the ball as well when he was playing at SC?

This is probably another friend/relative poster trying to pimp their athlete and prove a point. We get it. Thanks for your time.

Pimpin' ain't easy. That's why MSU comes down to a Mediterranean climate to "pimp." And you believe all that non-sense about recruiting only in Montana and Texas. When he inks with a conference opponent, he will go by your bench and give the Columbian necktie high sign when the ball bounces off your returner's breastplate and your opponent has the ball first and goal.longhorn_22 wrote:This is probably another friend/relative poster trying to pimp their athlete and prove a point. Actually, on second thought, he wouldn't give the high sign. Big Sky opponents prefer first and goal at the 5 instead of first and goal at the 20.
C'mon, get with the program. Flat-landers more in the know than you Bevo.

I can't wait for the day to see punter to do a Columbian necktie. Idiot.

Re: What ever happened to Carlito Brigante?
Also, I would add it is a common observation that there is much more to be gained by "pimping" a coaching staff and not fans on a board. You think far too much of yourself, horned one. It is downright child's play to pimp a coaching staff when you are a national leader - even at the measly JUCO level (which is considered by coaches at EVERY level to be equivalent to excellent D2 quality ball to good FCS ball). Actually, they end up pimping you. I don't know why. It may be that they want the best players available. Who would have thunk? CA JUCO players are FBS players waiting to get their NCAA qualification.longhorn_22 wrote:This is probably another friend/relative poster trying to pimp their athlete and prove a point. We get it. Riddle me this Bevo-man: how many true freshman/redshirt freshman punters have had the current starting DE at ASU (the same DE who wouldn't let the Bengals move an inch in Tempe, circa 2009) come after them completely unchecked four times in a game and never let that DE, now at ASU, ever to get to them in 2008? If Ash wants to talk about operational time, that's what I'm talking about.
BTW, that DE is 26 years old, 275 lbs, and has run a 4.6s FAT 40.
Ash prefers to not bring in JUCO players, but he knows, like Jerry Glanville does, that when he does have to bring them in, he is bringing in a man.
Finally, now that I had made my real point, thank you for your time.
Ultimately, I think you are revealing your prejudice against Mark Iddins. hehe

Re: What ever happened to Carlito Brigante?
If you are as strong as the linebackers on your team, most of whom will be going FBS, and when you are a former CA all-state lineman at the high school level, the necktie is not such an idiotic concept.longhorn_22 wrote:oiger sorbo wrote:Pimpin' ain't easy.
