I haven't shaved since the election (it actually has a lot more to do with hunting season than the election) and I'm not looking forward to the Messiah being sworn in next week. To each his/her own and someday, hopefully, you'll reach voting and shaving age.

I hope you don't plan on being a small business owner someday with our new prez elect. But when that day comes when you are old enough to fully understand what I'm talking about, you'll probably have already changed your mind.

Yeah, because so many small businesses (or large businesses. Or medium businesses. Or huge corporations. Or micro-companies) have just FLOURISHED under Bush.

Hopefully we'll all survive the giant intense rays of sun shining out his butt as he is sworn in.

If we can get through that everything will be just OK, cuz' the Messiah will fix all. Curses, I should have voted for him

Actually they have. Not including these last couple of months that have included the recession.

And to prove it GiW, go back and look at records of small construction companies that were started in NW Washington (or the entire state for that matter) and see how they have flourished. It happened during the Bush Administration no matter how much you don't want to believe it.

For the most part, I agree. It's been an ugly year in my company (primarily because our revenues are based on asset valuations...which have taken a little haircut over the past year), but the 7 years before that were pretty damn successful.

I can actually say that they've been pretty successful all around. When I was working in the for-profit world during the first 6 years of the Bush administration, we saw no appreciable dropoff in company contributions to profit sharing or pension plans, had no problem selling new plans, and saw a grand total of 8 clients go out of business/bankrupt (other than small business owners who retired). This is out of just over 2,500 clients in California, Nevada, Arizona, Washington, Illinois, the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida and Virginia (and even a few in Montana). So, regardless of what the pretty faces on TV want to shove down your throat...Bush has not killed the American economy. Has it been bruised in the last year, sure it has. But it's far from the crippled wreck that CNN and MSNBC want you to believe.

Now, that's not to say I'm a W fan...actually the opposite. However, if we're talking strictly about the business environment, his administration has been FAR from the worst overall...as far as we know. I say this because the economy in the first year of the Obama administration still belongs, in part, to Bush. The last chapter isn't written yet.

I've made more money w/ Bush as Pres than any other, so I guess I'm one of the few? With that said, I hope I make more w/ Obama as Pres. We'll see...

Hear, hear, BG! In the eight years Bush has been prez, I personally have never been in better financial shape. I have had no problems finding employment, investing money, and purchasing assets. But then again, I don't sit around on my fat arse and hope the government does my work for me, like way too many people do anymore in this country.

My business has done extremely well under Bush, but then again I don't borrow money I can't afford to pay back and run up huge debt on credit cards.

People like you find it so easy to blame one person but anyone in the know realizes there were a myriad of things and people that contributed to this tiny fluctuation in the market. If it hadn't happened under Bush or the next guy it would have been the following president.

Growth cannot continue at the rate it was, with the bad business that was going on to get it.

Pelosi, Reid, FRANK, Schumer, and the REPUBLICAN congress was more at fault here than Bush was.

Bush has done nothing good for our economy. One of the problems was the economy was doing so well that people were getting in over their heads thinking everything would work out. Now that the economy has slowed down things look a lot worse than if people had paced themselves.

The jobless rate is at 7.2%, the highest level in 16 years. Last time it was that high was when his dad was President. The average work week fell to 33.3 hours, the lowest total since 1964. In 2008 the economy lost 2.6 million jobs, the most since 1945.

Home sales are at their worst rate in 7 years. Housing prices dropped by the sharpest annual rate on record. Consumer confidence hit an all-time low in December.

Drive around. There are going out of business signs everywhere. The economy sucks right now (Montana isn't as bad as the rest of the US) and Bush has been the president during this "recession". He is going to get the blame. A lot of it has to do with the war in Iraq.

Obama brings change and with that change comes hope. Unfortunately hope only gets you so far.

You're an idiot.
You've had 3-4 previous posters verify the strength of the economy prior to this year, not to mention the countless others out there throughout the rest of the country and you have the nerve to say that Bush has done "nothing good?" Wake up

Yeah a few guys on BobcatNation saying their business is doing good outweighs the thousands of businesses that are tanking. Their businesses might be doing well but MOST are not. I just posted facts. And like I said its not all his fault but he is in charge so the blame falls on him.

Oh, I'm doing just fine thanks, although I will say that during the last 12 months or so, I've lost nearly $900,000 in net worth.

Truthfully, I don't fully blame Bush for the horrible economy (anyone who suggests that this economy is healthy is simply uninformed). While his tax cuts combined with the ridiculous spending (primarily on the war in Iraq) were completely unsustainable and were destined to create a financial collapse, and while he and his administration ignored responsible action in the Fed, leading directly to the credit crunch, I undesrtand that economies are cyclical. Bush's administration simply made this bottom MUCH lower than it needed to.

Let me prefis this by saying i know very little about economics...That said, I have a hard time feeling sorry for people that spend more than they can afford. Allot of people here in bozeman were "flipping" houses when the market was booming, now they are stuck with 2-3K a month in Mortgage payments on a house that is twice the size they need. I also have a hard time feeling sorry for banks that would give a house loan without checking the credit score. Greed put everyone in this bind, now it is time to pay the chapter 11 piper.
