For the most part, I agree. It's been an ugly year in my company (primarily because our revenues are based on asset valuations...which have taken a little haircut over the past year), but the 7 years before that were pretty damn successful.

I can actually say that they've been pretty successful all around. When I was working in the for-profit world during the first 6 years of the Bush administration, we saw no appreciable dropoff in company contributions to profit sharing or pension plans, had no problem selling new plans, and saw a grand total of 8 clients go out of business/bankrupt (other than small business owners who retired). This is out of just over 2,500 clients in California, Nevada, Arizona, Washington, Illinois, the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida and Virginia (and even a few in Montana). So, regardless of what the pretty faces on TV want to shove down your throat...Bush has not killed the American economy. Has it been bruised in the last year, sure it has. But it's far from the crippled wreck that CNN and MSNBC want you to believe.

Now, that's not to say I'm a W fan...actually the opposite. However, if we're talking strictly about the business environment, his administration has been FAR from the worst overall...as far as we know. I say this because the economy in the first year of the Obama administration still belongs, in part, to Bush. The last chapter isn't written yet.

Hear, hear, BG! In the eight years Bush has been prez, I personally have never been in better financial shape. I have had no problems finding employment, investing money, and purchasing assets. But then again, I don't sit around on my fat arse and hope the government does my work for me, like way too many people do anymore in this country.

People like you find it so easy to blame one person but anyone in the know realizes there were a myriad of things and people that contributed to this tiny fluctuation in the market. If it hadn't happened under Bush or the next guy it would have been the following president.

Growth cannot continue at the rate it was, with the bad business that was going on to get it.

Pelosi, Reid, FRANK, Schumer, and the REPUBLICAN congress was more at fault here than Bush was.

Drive around. There are going out of business signs everywhere. The economy sucks right now (Montana isn't as bad as the rest of the US) and Bush has been the president during this "recession". He is going to get the blame. A lot of it has to do with the war in Iraq.

Oh, I'm doing just fine thanks, although I will say that during the last 12 months or so, I've lost nearly $900,000 in net worth.

Truthfully, I don't fully blame Bush for the horrible economy (anyone who suggests that this economy is healthy is simply uninformed). While his tax cuts combined with the ridiculous spending (primarily on the war in Iraq) were completely unsustainable and were destined to create a financial collapse, and while he and his administration ignored responsible action in the Fed, leading directly to the credit crunch, I undesrtand that economies are cyclical. Bush's administration simply made this bottom MUCH lower than it needed to.

Let me prefis this by saying i know very little about economics...That said, I have a hard time feeling sorry for people that spend more than they can afford. Allot of people here in bozeman were "flipping" houses when the market was booming, now they are stuck with 2-3K a month in Mortgage payments on a house that is twice the size they need. I also have a hard time feeling sorry for banks that would give a house loan without checking the credit score. Greed put everyone in this bind, now it is time to pay the chapter 11 piper.
