I'm just playing out your logic. A guy is only great if he sits in the fourth instead of leading a dramatic comebackSwilly3224 wrote:Elway = 2 Super Bowlscatamaran wrote:I guess guys like Elway are just "good quarterbacks"

In a world where IAA football is the same level as NFL football, this logic would be reasonable. However, in this world, an apples-to-apples analogy would be to consider if Elway played for the Cats instead of Lulay. In that scenario, I have no doubt the Cats would have won 2 or 3 NCs.catamaran wrote:I guess guys like Elway are just "good quarterbacks"
McNair had virtually no help when he was at Alcorn State, and he still managed to win some playoff games. If you are going to argue the same for Lulay, that's fine but if that is the case then the Cats are in for some tough years without him.Bay Area Cat wrote:So Edwards was a "great" QB, but Steve McNair wasn't even a good QB.
Pretzel logic.
When are you going to realize that one player does not win football games by himself?!?! Football is the ultimate team game, and even John Elway would not have won us 2 or 3 NC's given everything else being the same.Another Arrogant Griz Fan wrote:In a world where IAA football is the same level as NFL football, this logic would be reasonable. I realize that it takes more than one guy. However, the quarterback is the most important position on the field and having a good one dramitically increases your chances for success. Let me ask you something. Was the rest of your team that bad that even with a quarterback like Lulay, you couldn't manage even a single playoff win all 4 years that he played? What specifically was to blame for Lulay's lack of playoff success?BozoneCat wrote:When are you going to realize that one player does not win football games by himself?!?! Hard to say what specifically was to blame for our team's lack of playoff success. I wouldn't say that the team let anyone down with their performance at McNeese. They were clearly outmatched size-wise and depth-wise, yet they played with enough heart to come within an eyelash of upsetting the #1 team in the country on their home field the week after upsetting the griz on their home field. I think that game made every single one of us proud to be a Bobcat, even despite the loss.Another Arrogant Griz Fan wrote:I realize that it takes more than one guy. I dont recall ever saying that... I hope he does well, I just dont think he will make the NFL. CFL AFL You bet.lifeloyalsigmsu wrote:Scats, can you please tell me how Lulay's current possibilities of making the NFL have anything to do with the MSU team not winning a playoff game while he was here?Another Arrogant Griz Fan wrote:That's a compelling argument, but look at it this way. If Lulay truly is an NFL-calibur quarterback, what does that say for the rest of your team and your coaching staff that you couldn't muster even a single playoff win during his 4-year tenure at the helm? Were the rest of the players that bad? I don't think so, I just think your assessment of Lulay is way overblown. If Lulay makes the NFL I'll be rooting him on all the way, although I may be a bit preoccupied with all the monkeys flying out of my butt.GOKATS wrote: KMA, Lulay will make the NFL.
I guess your logic, or lack thereof, neglects to understand that since he has clearly been invited to the combine, it's clear that his playoff performance while a Cat really has no relevance.
