I thought back in those days that the best Bobcat player was Vicki Hebner, at least the best one that I ever saw beginning at about 1980 and afterwards through the eighties. The one player that turned the Bobcats program around the most in the 80s unto the 90s was Lynn Andrews. IMHO
Oh, another player that comes to mind is a Jane McDaniel I believe; a 5' 9" FW that later was an assistant coach at NMC (Northern Montana College in Havre); a very good rebounder for her height and an all around gutsy player. That's about all I can really recall. I remember hearing McLaughlins' name from the PA every once in a while but that was when it was too little too late, at least against the LG. Most of the players you had back then couldn't really dribble the ball over the 10-second line without tripping over it, couldn't hit the broad side of a barn etc. etc. etc.
You have all heard of North Carolina's Dean Smith & his four-corner offense, right? I think you have since the eighties spawned what would be handed down in legend as 'The Bobkitten Two-Corner Offense.' This is where a bobkitten would pass the ball to one of her team-mates as one of your Hcoaches, can't remember which one, would yell from the sidelines: "DON'T DROP THE BALL!!!'
So quite naturally, in order to "NOT TO DROP THE BALL" the receiving bobkitten would grab the ball with both hands while the bobkitten passer would also avoid dropping the ball by passing with both hands. This done simutaneously as many hours of practise have been involved in order to perfect this startling maneuver. Very cagey on the part of the bobkittens to do this in a game. Very hard to defend against this 'Bobkitten Two-Corner Offense.' And quite naturally the receiver would sometimes pass the ball back to the initial passer & both would ensue passing it back & forth this way in order to 'NOT DROP THE BALL.'
Now that's what I call strategy.

Going to retire #40. Well, I guess congratuations are in order. I have to admit though, I didn't even know that MSU had numbered jerseys back in those days. Kindna nondescript one could say. Only goes to show ya, you learn something new every day. Thanx for the games anyways.
Hope you don't run out of numbers now.

WGF: You are a new kind of animal to us ... I don't think I've ever seen anyone so viciously talk ****** about women's college basketball games from 30 years ago (you had a really, really bizarre rant on another thread on this topic, as I recall).
There must be a traumatic story of some sort that led to this affliction, and I don't really care to know the details. I just hope that you are able to find your peace with it ... and quit scaring the children.

Evidently, 'Bay Area Cat,' you've never even bothered to view a 'Blog-War' like between the UConn Huskies & the Tennessee LVols have you? Not really a 'new' kind of animal at all, now is it? Unless of course you're too small time to know any better. But like some people say, 'ignorance the first penalty of pride and all.' Compared to that you're just a cuddling little putty-tat. You go up against that & you'll get yourself sliced to ribbons. And to be so agitated by my little humor and banter. Talk about being weak.
And don't think you're intimidating me with any big city name under your moniker; been there, done that. Five years living within an hours' drive of 'The City;' Fisherman's wharf, Cannery Row, etc. etc. etc. Same also with having been through the likes of Seattle, Anchorage, Dallas, Denver, Salt Lake City, Philadelphia & Europe. So what? You really don't impress me any, comphrende? Go stalk somebody else; bizarre rants? Well I guess there is a difference between intelligence and knowledge content now isn't there. Your delusional assessment without any factual evidence to rely upon is really quite infantile; hardly a persuasive argument if you ever reach the 'big' time' and try to convince anyone of your insipid argument. The 'Pragmatic Survival of the Fittest' is like 'Universal Justice' based upon 'Reason' (William James Head of the Psychology Department of Harvard University at one time; ever hear of it?); not your petty little personal references which denotes your own emotional imbalance & prejudices. "And don't they all hide behind children and being so condescending as well. Landsakes." Don't mind the paraphrase any 'little one.' Your naivete doesn't speak too highly of a respectable gentleman (polymath?) anyways.
Viciously talk about women's basketball games? If you can't be 'just' in any one thing, no matter how trivial it is, being that your time is so important and all, how do you be 'just' in anything? You sound like some wayward mountebank selling 'snake oil' at some back alley trying to draw attention to himself due to his own sense of insignificance. Talk about someone hiding behind a womans' skirt.
Really weak, dude. Really, really, weak.

can someone delete this crap from what should be a great topic honoring some Lady Cat greats.
Piss off WYO
Whether your original post was meant in jest or not, it was uncalled for in this case.
Thanks for the heads up on the halftime ceremonies mslacat. The athletic department should be marketing things like this to people outside of Bozeman. I know this is a side topic, but this is an area where I think the Ath. Dept. really drops the ball - a lot! A chance to honor Bobcats past and present should be done with class, preparation and pride... not just hoist a jersey into the rafters 30 seconds before the teams come out at halftime, pat on the butt and send them on their way.

You're one stange duck.
But for your information, if you want to talk smack about women's basketball, especially women's basketball of 30 years ago, do it on the smack board.
And if you want to get into a strange boastful (???) conversation about your own life, do it on the Bobcat Hangout.
This thread is for honoring some outstanding players of our past and talking about the Fieldhouse.

Apparently his travels that landed him in "The City" didn't result in him being the big man on "campus", so he moved back to Big Piney, Wyoming or whatever little town where people could recognize him for the inadequate person that his posts make him out to be.grizzh8r wrote:Yeah, this guy has a bigger ego than TO....Bay Area Cat wrote:Like I said ...
