The end of MiLB?

Post by CatBlitz » Fri Oct 18, 2019 3:45 pm

Not really the end, but the end as we know it may be upon us.

Billings, Great Falls, and Missoula might be completely without MLB affiliation under this proposed change. Being in the industry, this is quite disappointing but not terribly unexpected. This would be a huge change, however, and will affect a lot of people, players, coaches and communities.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Guess you can't blame some organizations. We started going to the Spokane Indians games this year. Pretty good baseball.
Previously living in Northeast Cali we would go down to Sac and take in River Cats game. Triple A is a good product there. But then the Giants are one of our favs. We went when they were the A's affiliate. Not a big A's fan. Then when Reno brought in the Aces we began going to games after their 5th year or so. Really enjoyable.
So as Spokane is Northwest League what does the do to their schedule, you called it a full season schedule?

If the proposed plan is indeed ratified, then the entire NWL would be playing a 100+ game schedule. Not entirely full season but there wouldn't be short season anymore like there is now.
A lot of this is a player development issue and a facilities issue. You have teams playing in facilities that are run down and don't have the equipment for development.
And on top of this, they want to move the draft to August so that would throw another wrench in the gears.

This whole thing could also be MLB strong arming the Minor League owners but who knows.
