John Madden retires from broadcasting

I think this is a little bitter sweet. On one hand, I truly did like what he added to the games (sometimes), but on the other hand, he drove me nuts with some of his ramblings. Chris Collinsworth is taking over on Sunday Night Football...another reason this is bittersweet, since I can't stand him personally.
Go Raiders!

Re: John Madden retires from broadcasting
I always liked Madden, but I'm also a Raiders fan......... As an announcer I think Madden knows more about the game of football than anyone else out there and I'll miss that knowledge. I didn't realize he was 73, he deserves to step down. I wish him well in retirement.
FTG!!

I missed listending to Al Michaels ... always like Al. But when Madden came on board, I quit watching. I look forward to listening to Al again. It will also be nice to see him with a partner that understands his world-beyond-NFL references again.
Madden does a 15 minutes or so daily segment on a radio station here every morning during my commute, and I have to change the station each time it comes on. When I was communiting with my wife in the mornings (pre-baby, when things were much simpler), she would change the station without me even saying anything. That's when I knew that she really did know me well!
I wish Madden well in his retirement ... he seems like a good person. But I won't miss hearing his voice.

I have always loved Madden's broadcasts, especially his ramblings. It's what made him special and personable. I always considered Madden was the NFL's Dick Vitale. The combination of Madden and Summerall was timeless. I will miss him

With Brett Favre no longer in the league, what would Madden talk about?
Just kidding....I liked Madden, although his deal was starting to get a little old.
The biggest loser in all this is that guy who does the dead-on impression of Madden......what's he going to do now?

I'll miss him. Like him or hate him, it won't be the same without him. I'd much rather listen to Madden's ramblings than Chris Collinsworth. Chris is to the NFL what Bill Walton is to the NBA.
I'd like to see Madden and Yogi Berra start a radio show on Sirius.... they could call it "You Can't Be Sirius".

Retiring my moniker. It's time to ride off into the sunset. It's been a fun ride. Go Cats.

I like Collinsworth and Walton.

Since Brett Favre isn't playing anymore, I think he didn't think there was any point in continuing.
I think you don't get it. Sleeping in until 6 won't get many people very far in life, especially if they want to play on Sunday.
