Week one of the playoffs are over and it looks still looks as though Manhattan vs. Florence would be the safe pick to make it to the final. However Florence was a bit shaky, trailing Conrad for a large portion before getting some late scores to make the result look better. The Falcons committed 7 personal foul penalties and the reporter tweeted that the number should have been higher  ! Manhattan left no doubt thumping Colstrip 52-0. On their radio show last week Nuanez and Tootel said that Florence got a good draw because they are on the opposite side of the bracket to Manhattan, Bigfork, and Eureka. Well, turns out they were right about Manhattan but the other two Western B squads lost. Anyone know what went on in Bigfork? they seemed to really have a up and down year. Meanwhile all 4 of the Southern B teams won showing that they were in fact the toughest division. Red Lodge was a one man team and future 'Cat Reynolds was mostly held in check. Predictions for this week:

4S Columbus at 3N Glasgow: Scotties only loses are to Malta and Fairfield, both solid teams. Columbus struggles to put up points. Glasgow moves on.

2N Malta at 1S Manhattan: Manhattan has only trailed 2 teams all year (Florence and Townsend) and are #1 for a reason. Manhattan wins.

3S Whitehall at 1N Fairfield: This game will be the least competitive of this round. Fairfield by 3 scores.

2S Broadwater at 1W Florence: This is the best matchup this week. Townsend lost their first game to Bigfork having a few key players out due to injury. They only lost to Manhattan after that and is 1 of only 2 teams to lead the Tigers and play them competitively. I'll call one upset this week and go with Townsend advancing.

Glasgow is capable of winning the whole thing, and takes the game this weekend by more than 2 scores.

Malta is very good, but loses a close one to Manhattan. Tigers by 6.

Fairfield is Fairfield, and wins by 20.

Townsend believes they can beat anyone, and beats Florence by 4 on the road.

From what I have seen so far, there is nobody that can compete with Manhattan right now. They are playing their best football these past 2 games. Being at home helps a bunch.

I missed this last week, but wanted to answer your question about Bigfork. They were running the ball almost 100%. They don't have a QB who can do much of anything, so you keep an eye on Cormac Benn, the tailback, and they couldn't do much more. They did have another good RB who got hurt, but they were still too one-dimensional to be any threat in the playoffs. They had success early in the year, probably because nobody knew anything about them due to having a new coach.
