MT High School Players to Watch

Post by LTown Cat » Thu Jul 07, 2011 8:50 am

We did one of these last year and I suppose it isn't too early to start one this year. Feel free to throw out any names you can and I'll add them to the list. Try to include position, height, and weight if available. Might as well start with our only commit thus far:

Austin Barth, QB, 6-6, 215, Columbia Falls (MSU)
Brady Gustafson, QB, XXX, XXX, Billings West
Chad Newell, RB, XXX, XXX, Billings Senior
Bo Harris, DE, 6-3, XXX, Fairfield (UM)
Caleb Kidder, XX, XXX, XXX, Capital High School (UM)
Dylan Simac, XX, XXX, XXX, Helena High School
Dylan Trevor, XX, XXX, XXX, Helena High School
Cody Carriger, DE, 6-6, 220, Butte High School (?Oregon?)
Russ Morin, TE, 6-4, 225, CMR
Reno Ward, XX, XXX, XXX, Powell County High School

I heard Carriger(sp) from Butte is committing to Oregon. I think he is about 6'6" or 6'7" DE about 220 and very quick.

Bo Harris - Fairfield (already verballed to UM)
Caleb Kidder - Capital (rumored to have verballed to UM....but I have not heard this)
Ben Folsom (I think his first name is Ben) - only a Jr at Dillon, but already on radar screens (his brother is coming to MSU after his 2 year mission)
Dylan Simac - Helena
Dylan Trevor - Helena
QB from Billings West (I can't remember his name)

That's all I can remember from off the top of my head.

Russ Morin TE CMR 6'4' to 6'5" about 225. Will probably go on a mission right out of high school but could be the best tight end prospect in the state.

His name is Ben. He is a big time talent, 6'2" 180 lbs WR and FS with great quickness, playmaking ability and agility. If he stays healthy (got injured in the playoffs and lasted into a good portion of BB season) could be the top prospect in 2013.

There is a kid from Powell County High School (Deer Lodge). I believe that last name is Ward. I heard he was a beast and both the Cat camp and the griz camp. Don't know much other that he, Kidder and Harris were probably the most impressive according tomy sources.

Camden Laird... 4' 1/2" tall from Bozeman Kindergarten. He is unpolished right now, but has a HUGE upside. Should be in great shape academically if he can get through finger painting and gym class. Has a great motor (he never takes naps) and Runs the 40 in about 20-30 seconds if he doesn't get distracted by a gopher or bird.

Rumor has it that he has already qualified academically for UM, and that they have offerred him as a QB prospect for this fall.

Caleb has verballed to UM. UM has also offered a full ride to Capital junior Gunnar Brekke. Don't know a thing about him yet...

Retiring my moniker. It's time to ride off into the sunset. It's been a fun ride. Go Cats.

He would be the best QB they have this year (and when he throws he hits himself in the back of the head.)

Watched CMR vs Butte tape last night.

Carriger has height and good speed but has a long way to go. He was a non factor on the defensive side of the ball.
