MHSA fine against Bozeman High School?
Not sure where to post, but high school athletics works. I've seen nothing in the news, but did anyone hear that Bozeman High School had been fined and their head football coach was reprimanded by the MHSA for running illegal practices this spring? I believe that some type of practices can take place similar to open gyms in basketball this time of year, but was told that Bozeman was putting kids in gear and conducting contact drills with players. I believe their head coach came from Havre so I would think it would be hard to plead ignorance. Just curious if anyone had heard the same.

Isn't Purcell still the coach? If so, he's a Helena native and a Capital grad but coached Havre High for several years.
Didn't Jack Johnson and CMR get in trouble for this a while back?

That is what I was thinking and if it is Purcell he is definitely not from Havre--he is a CHS guy, although his last stop may have been Havre......CapitalCityCat wrote:Isn't Purcell still the coach? If so, he's a Helena native and a Capital grad but coached Havre High for several years.

http://www.carroll.edu/alumninews/classnotes.cc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Head coach Troy Purcell, class of 1990, is leaving his post as
coach of the Havre High Blue Ponies, which he led to their first
championship in 34 years. He's moving on to coach Class AA
football at Bozeman High School. Purcell coached the Blue Ponies
for five years and compiled a 40-13 record that included four
playoff appearances. Last season, Havre won 12-straight games. He
has been a head coach for 14 years. Before arriving at Havre, he
coached for three years in Oregon and six more in Eureka, Mont.
Along the way, his teams won five conference championships and
finished second three times.

Like I said....his last stop may have been Havre, but that does not make him from Havre--he's from Capital High School in Helena.Hawks86 wrote:http://www.carroll.edu/alumninews/classnotes.cc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Head coach Troy Purcell, class of 1990, is leaving his post as

Just giving some background for those that are less informed
I really like Coach Purcell and hopefully he can turn the football program into a consistent winner.

Hopefully Bozeman will give Purcell the time. He will turn the Hawks into a consistent winner. It took Tuss a few years to really get things going at Capital High. The secret to Captial's football program is their weight and conditioning program. If you look at their players who have graduated, not many have gone on to MSU, UM or higher. A few have, but not as many as you would think with all their success.
