My younger sister went to high school with Cam - seems like a legitimately good kid that just can't catch a break. He's played maybe 2 seasons worth of football over the last 8.

Yes, it looks as if he hasn't caught too many good breaks... No pun intended.

Liked Cam on the Ducks but most of the time these injuries pretty much make the decision for the player. A 9th year is so absurd it really defies logic. A non-Covid 6th-year used to be rare.

Hey…. It take Tommy Boy 7 years to get his bachelors. (Reference to Chris Farley movie - not Touchdown Tommy)

I think they should have 5 years to play 4, if you get hurt for a year, tough luck.

I generally agree, but if a team redshirt you and then get hurt maybe a max 6th year for medical. Some kids don't see time early and maybe get to play last couple years. If got hurt then probably should get 1 more. But continually extending is hurting younger players chances.

Let me get this straight…you are currently 25 yrs old. You obviously don’t think you are good enough to get drafted this spring or make an NFL team (which the article states is your end goal) through the free agent/training camp route, or you would leave college. So, what makes you think you will be good enough at 26 years old…after next season?

Remember, pre-Covid, aspiring NFL players would have had to make a team after 4-5 years , at 21-23 years of age.

Something tells me $40-$80k of U of Miami NIL money is tilting the scales of his decision. (Total guess at NIL amount)

This guy is good enough to hold an NCAA roster spot, but not good enough to play NFL. He’s taking a scholarship and a roster spot from a high school senior….MOVE ON!

I thought that’s what the policy was — a player could petition for an extra (6th) year when an injury basically erased a year with no red-shirt available — but I thought they could only do it one time?

I'm assuming that the two years when he didn't play at all due to complications from his original injury didn't count against his eligibility clock for some reason. Probably one of the NCAA's mysterious waivers that some players get and others don't. So he has 4 normal years, 1 normal redshirt, 1 medical redshirt, 1 COVID year, and 2 years he missed completely.

Some of this has to be on the coaches. They're the ones that should cut the guy loose, after maybe like year 7. Sheesh.

I'm with Belligerent on this. 5 years to play 4. Especially now that you can play 4 games and playoffs your redshirt year.

He already has a Master’s degree. Might as well go for a Ph. D in Coral Gables.

He's like one of those Mormons who plays until 25 after his mission...except without all the rules.

Dude is living the Alex Moran dream.
