Sac vs Weber

Post by Smellycat » Wed Nov 02, 2022 3:41 pm

We need Weber to shine this weekend. They're home, but it's going to rain. Regardless I see it:

Weber 34
Sac24

I agree! I think I posted this question in another thread awhile ago but I know enough to know that if the Cats win this weekend, SDSU wins, and Sac loses... Cats will be ranked #2. Then if SDSU and Cats win out, then end season ranked 1 and 2. Question is, is it highly likely, or absolute that we'd be seeded 1 and 2 as well?

I would not count out northern Iowa against South Dakota State

Good question, its not absolute. The committee chooses the seeds based on preset criteria but it's very much based on judgement calls because things are rarely cut and dry.

Having said that, if we win out and Sac loses to Weber, I would be shocked if we didn't get the 2 seed.

I'm definitely rooting for Weber here but my head says Sac wins this. In Bozeman, Weber really struggled to defend the QB run game and from what I've seen, O'Hara runs it very well for Sac. He's no Touchdown Tommy but I think he's capable of moving the chains consistently against Weber.

Totally agree, a definite possibility - especially since it's at UNI. Just looking at hypotheticals. Would be pretty crazy if the CATS ended up with the #1 seed. =D^ [-o<

Weber——37
Sac—30

Game goes to OT

Also… I’m going all out on this one and going to say that Cal Poly wins by 3 over UM.

Weber State wins easy. O'hara isn't Tommy.
Cats win 35-17

Lol no. UM isnt some terrible team. They arent who they thought they were, thats for sure. They have some serious issues when it comes to competing with the best, ie their offense. But, they lost by less than a TD at Sac and Weebs. I've said it before, they are never as good as people think they are and they are never as bad as people think they are. Right now, the gris are ranked appropriately and will absolutely roll over Cal Poly. The real question is, will they break 20k in attendance?

Hating the griz since 02.

Another factor would be.....did we beat um by double digits or was the score close. The um@WSU score was close but the game not so much. Just looking at the polls of the top FCS teams currently, it's hard to imagine a scenario where IF we win out who would 'jump us'. It'd have to be NDSU (who has an FBS loss and a FCS loss at home), WSU who we beat, or Holy Cross because they're undefeated (whose 'strength of schedule' is 111th).....just don't see that happening.

IF Sac wins out I don't see us being ahead of them unfortunately IMHO. However, with their recent record in the playoffs they could easily lose before the semi's and then we'd have home field anyway. GO CATS!!!

The only ranked win HC would have is #24 Fordham, NDSU would have 0 ranked wins. MSU would have #5 WSU and #16 um, I think our resume would trump those 2 teams pretty easily.

Maybe we want Sac to win out so that we don’t end up on the same side of the bracket as NDSU? NDSU would probably be 3 if we were 2, if Sac loses.

I dont have a problem playing NDSU in Bozeman, it that happens lets get it on.

If weber beats Sac I think they get the #3, they would have 2 ranked wins to maybe 1 for NDSU. the only thing that might hold the selection committee back from putting Weber at #3 is NDSU's history and not wanting the possibilities of 2 regular season rematches in the semi-finals they say they don't consider that but sometimes I think they do.

I think I would rather play NDSU than SDSU.

Hmmm … it gets so mental. True or not, the Bizon know they can beat us and the Bunnies wonder a bit. It’s a tough compare between Bobcats and Bizons, as both teams have had a bit softer (and similar) schedule than the other top teams. But I’d love to give the Bizon another go, but it’s about time to play one in Bozeman! Go, Weber.

SAC is good, but I think Weber has the better team and they’re at home. SAC has had a couple good road wins over No. Iowa and Colorado St. It’s going to be a great game.

Weber 27, SAC 24
