Gator Bowl Opening

Post by Rich K » Wed Dec 22, 2021 12:37 pm

Wake Forest needs an opponent for the Gator Bowl after Texas A&M dropped out. Sam Houston, James Madison, Gris, South Dakota are all free. Seems like a great opportunity.

I don’t know. I guess the gris have been unable to reach Robby Hauck to recall him back to the practice facility as he is vacationing in Cancun and his cell phone slipped out of his Speedo.

Just hope the Cats avoid Omicron. Looks like some teams are canceling their participation in bowls.

That would be absolutely heartbreaking, but nothing would surprise me. MSU's (and I assume NDSU's) players are scattered all over the country right now, so the odds (insignificantly, I hope) have no doubt increased for the likelihood of someone getting it.

MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

The January 8th game date seems to be at the worst possible time if a player or two contracts Covid while at home or traveling and then spreads it around the team after they come back together. I don't think the game is in serious danger of not being played at all, but it will not surprise me if some major players or coaches are out for one or both sides.

If I was a player at MSU this month and had a choice, I'd tell my family see you at spring break. Study films, work out, see the trainer and be ready to ball 8 Jan.

I think we’ll be good to go and both squads will be at full strength. As they should be. The only thing that has me slightly concerned is the cancelling of flights lately. But we got a week to go so I’m cautiously optimistic.
