NDSU vs JMU

Post by Prodigal Cat » Mon Dec 13, 2021 6:38 pm

Who are we backing? I think NDSU is a more complete team but I feel JMU is an easier matchup for the Cats. That said if want to be the best you have to beat the best.

I’d be shocked if NDSU loses this game. (I’m saying that so that they can go ahead and surprise me — I’d like to be wrong.) JMU is good but I think it would fun to have a whole new matchup in Frisco, Texas. I’m a James Madison fan for this week. They have a tough task in the Tin Barn sound machine in Fargo, but they’ve done it before.

I would like both of these teams to knock the living snot out of each other. Since they both can’t lose I would prefer it be a James Madison win. I would love the opportunity for the Bobcats to be the last loss for JMU has before they ascend into FBS, never to be heard from again. Ushering both Sam Houston and James Madison out of FCS would be a great asterisk note for MSU.

I'm rooting for James Madison but I'm not going to hold out much hope, despite their dismantling of the gris.

Personally, I hope it's NDSU. We owe them for the last 3 beatings they've given us, and to me, beating them will earn MSU more street cred than anyone else. If we truly want to be one of the few elite programs in the country, we have to eventually beat the others. I don't think this MSU team will be afraid of playing anyone, and I certainly think MSU is capable of winning.

Another factor, can you imagine the environment for an MSU vs. NDSU championship game? It would be crazy. NDSU historically travels extremely well, and we all know MSU fans will travel in droves for this game. I don't know how well JMU would travel for this game, considering they probably have a lot of fans who are looking more forward to moving up rather than playing in the FCS championship game. If it ends up being Bobcats vs. Bison, you would have a completely sold-out, 50/50 game with an unrivaled atmosphere.

All that said, I think JMU wins this weekend. They are really, really good.

Which team would be a better matchup for us?

It would be great to get revenge on NDSU for the last two years but it would also be great to send JMU to the FBS with a loss in the title game. I just want the best chances to win.

I didn't think JMU looked all that good against UM. I thought they'd win by more than 22 points. I didn't think NDSU looked great either. Should be a good game. Tough to call. I think it'll be low scoring. 21-17...NDSU.

On a neutral field I think JMU might win it. But the fargo dome is where natty dreams go to die.

I think JMU wins by a touchdown or two on neutral field. In Fargo, might be close either way..

I think JMU has the only, or one of the only, playoff wins at the FargoDome.

Apparently the greatest team ever to play FCS is JMU?

Maybe it's NDSU's chance to let JMU have one last winning season for the next decade.

Only saw JMU twice this year but didn’t come away super impressed. Obviously they’re in the finals so not suggesting they’re bad. But if I had to pick a winner I’d take NDSU by about 10.

So annoying… I don’t have ESPN News so now I have to wait for this shi**y bowl game to end…

1st quarter of the game will probably be done before The Who Gives a Sh** bowl game sponsored by Charmin Single Ply Toiletpaper is done.

NDSU converted a couple 3rd downs but stopped at midfield. Punts to JMU.
