Petrino Replacements?

Post by Rich K » Sun Nov 07, 2021 12:08 pm

Here's an interesting thread over on the Vandal board, they are suggesting replacements for Coaching Great Paul Petrino.
https://247sports.com/college/idaho/boa ... 18/?page=1

Here's a partial list of the suggested replacements (copied from the OP of that thread), you'll recognize a few names... any suggestions?
I suggest Max McCaffrey be added to the list, he'd be able to keep that dumpster fire going...

We might keep an eye on Choate for this job. Something tells me the Texas defensive staff may all be looking for work, at the end of the year, as they have really struggled. Not intended to slam, just the hard truth of the matter.

Please, please, please don’t fire Petrino. I love seeing him humiliated every season.

I guess I should have read that list closer, I didn't realize somebody had seriously suggested Max.. my suggestion of him was entirely farcical.

What about Robby Hauck? Surely he has enough tackles to coach them up.

It’s going to take a lot more then a head coach to get that program back to its roots of dominating the Big Sky.

Even if he got let go at Texas, he could find a lot better job than Idaho.

He might be waiting for his own HC to be fired so he can take his job but I wonder if Roger Cooper would make the jump north and switch schools.

What a bummer that would be for Choate. Leave the FCS because it's the best avenue to get a job. Get a P-5 job, come back to the FCS. It would take him years to get to the point he was at when he left MSU. I think he'd try for something (at least as an assistant) at the FBS level unless he just realized he liked FCS.

Yeah, I guess it's possible that Choate might pull a Beau Baldwin and come back to the FCS - but I'd be shocked if it happens after only one year at the FBS level and even more shocked if he wanted anything to do with the Idaho job.

Kramer might be a candidate if he's interested. Would wonder if some of the same names we heard will look, Charlie ragle tim polasek types?
