I've been saying it since they hired him back. Hauck is not the right man for the job there. What happens if he loses to MSU again? I don't think a UM coach has lost three straight to MSU since maybe Donovan.

If they don't show marked improvement, they might lose at Idaho this week and at NAU down the road. Since returning they have two big wins. Weber State in 2019 at home (a game WSU was completely banged up and sat a bunch of players; they then lost to them a few weeks later in Ogden) and UW, which is proving to have been not much of an upset. The Huskies are now 2-4 with one win over Ark. State, which has no wins over FBS opponents this year and is 1-5.
@UI @UNC and @NAU they will lose at least one of those games, UI sees it as a rivalry game, UNC has talented players and is better at home, NAU is always a tough place to play.
That's also Senior Day at NAU and Missoula might be looking ahead to Cat-griz.
NAU is at 7000 ft. And it’s almost always brutal for teams to go from 3000 ft to 7000…I’d take NAU to cover the spread.
Our players didn't seem to have a problem with the elevation in Laramie.
You mean the game we lost by giving up a score in the final minute?

You might want to rethink what you just said.
I don't believe it had anything to do with that.
Obviously, you’ve never competed or coached high level athletics. Every single trainer in the country will tell you that performance decreases with an 3000 ft change in altitude.

But hey. There are probably lots of other reasons the D was so gassed they gave up 16 points in the 4th quarter. And that the offense fell apart at the same time.
Quite certain I've competed at a higher level than you have. I've also spent a lot of time at elevation. I know that a couple thousand feet if your below 10,000 makes little difference, especially after 24 hours.
You certainly have an interesting perspective among professional & semi pro athletes. :-k

Look dude... If you go from sea level to 7200ft you might notice a bit of a difference for the first 12 hours you step off an airplane. But going up a couple thousand feet to something below 10,000ft will not even be felt. Especially after 24 hours. Got it? Kids.

Yep. No altitude advantage playing at Mile High Stadium at all. No impact at all in the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City.

Especially after 24 hours. Got it.

You've clearly never tried exerting yourself at 10,000 ft. It's bad!

I stood on top of Rainer in 2018. Spent one day acclimating at 10,000., So yea I know exactly how it feels. The point I'm trying to make is going from 3000 to 7000 with a day to acclimate will have negligible effects on a young football player.

Well, I've been up Rainer 3 x's and I am a diesel that can chug along and not stop. That said, altitude is a real thing even for the younguns...but I will give it to you some people navigate better than others. Happy for you!

Don't let the disaster that this thread has become distract you from the fact that the griz lost at home on the day they were celebrating winning a national championship 20 years ago.

Griz in the decade of the 2000's:
NC - 1
NC game appearances - 5
semi-finals - 6
QF - 7
playoffs - 10
BSC titles - 10

Griz in the decade of the 2010's:
NC - 0
NC game appearances - 0
semi-finals - 1 (officially 0)
QF - 2 (officially 1)
playoffs - 5 (officially 4)
BSC titles - 1 (officially 0)

Last year was the first time they advanced past the 2nd round of the playoffs since 2011 unofficially, and since 2009 officially. Griz fans were partying like it was 2001 on Saturday though...until the game started. Sac State should have won by more than one TD....they outgained UM by almost 200 yards.

I'm just navigating through this a bit but are we really suggesting that we lost that game against Wyoming because of the elevation?

To say otherwise would be critical, which would be a personal attack against the fine young men playing.

No, we are saying that playing at a higher elevation has well known and proven negative impacts on athletic performance.

Theres no real way of knowing if it cost us the win or not, just that its part of home field advantage for teams that play at higher elevation.

No one looses a game in the big sky due to altitude or temperature. Look at all the games played in the Cold and tell me I how many won because they were used to the cold.
