UM arrogance
I read this article, and was almost in disbelief at the level of delusional arrogance by everyone associated with the UM football program. I was particularly struck by the paragraph in which Speltz lumped together MSU, NAU, Northern Colorado and Southern Utah as wins that wouldn't be particularly noteworthy. I guess he can't be blamed too much for "misremembering" what it's like to beat the Cats, since it's now been almost 6 full years since that last happened in November 2015. Maybe they should focus on beating MSU, EWU and Weber, which they haven't done very often in recent years, before worrying about getting a "dazzling" win over U-Dub. Griz fans used to ridicule us for living in the past, when we'd remind them of our 3 national championships, during the dark days of MSU football in the late 80's and most of the 90's. They seem to be guilty of the same thing these days, as it's now been 12 years since they've even won a BSC championship, or 10 years if you count the 2011 title which was subsequently vacated.

@kmax Can you institute a rule that anyone who links a Speltz article on this site is suspended for one week?

Fun fact....If UM were to move to FBS, I believe they would be the smallest non-private, non-academy school in all of FBS. We did discuss this before. Pretty sure that UM is smaller than any D1 school in the country excluding private and academies. The discussion was that they are the smallest in the Big Sky and that evolved into the country. I did a little digging and could not find one smaller.wbtfg wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 1:12 pmhttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of ... l_programscoloradocat wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 1:06 pmWe've talked about this before but I've never seen a source for this honor. I think it goes without saying that the arrogance and hubris of grizzly fans knows no bounds, and Speltz typically leads the charge. Re: UM arrogance
Using the wiki link above I found a list of all D1 schools (with enrollment) as well as a list of all FCS schools (without enrollment). After doing a vlookup to identify which D1 schools are in the FCS and filtering out the private schools, UM-Missoula is the 32nd smallest public FCS school (out of 66). It lists their enrollment as 10,962 though so I don't know how old the table is. They are working their way down the list but one example of a smaller school is Western Illinois who only has 5,880 students.Cataholic wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 3:16 pmWe did discuss this before. Re: UM arrogance
This arrogance stuff is just one of Bobby playing mind games. Choate took the first shot and totally disarmed him. He is doing this to get the first shot at Vigen. You guys are playing into it by taking a homer reporter and elevating him to a relevant status. Facts and logic are of no use in this argument.

Here is that thread from earlier this year. It appear that we were just looking at public FBS schools (no private or academies included) and UM could possibly be the smallest at a recent tally of just 7,200.coloradocat wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 3:54 pmUsing the wiki link above I found a list of all D1 schools (with enrollment) as well as a list of all FCS schools (without enrollment). Re: UM arrogance
I have no idea what Bill Speltz is doing. I don’t consider him to be a bellwether of UM football or someone that has his finger on the pulse of it. Most Griz fans I know hardly ever bring up Griz football anymore. Most are actually very complimentary about MSU and aren’t confident about their chances of winning Cat-Griz this year. I see the attendance at games is still strong, but I definitely don’t see Griz gear around nearly as much.GRIZFNZ wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 7:37 amAn opinion piece by Speltz equates to “delusional arrogance by everyone associated with UM football”……quite a stretch there Karen.John K wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 10:34 amI read this article, and was almost in disbelief at the level of delusional arrogance by everyone associated with the UM football program. Please. Bill Speltz is a total clown.
There is confidence surrounding Hauck, his players, and the trajectory of the program.
BUT, nobody with a clue is arrogant about the current state of UM and it’s direction under Bodnar or the dumbsh*t who hired Bob Stitt, Shannon Schweyen, and who was reluctant to hire Hauck.

Huge win for the Griz program and their fans last night.
Appreciate credible Griz posters on this thread pointing out the article was written by a clown and the true Griz fans know the program is rebuilding after falling on hard times.
We all know…the Griz will drop a couple of games this season, the Cats will too, and The Brawl will once again decide who’s season was better.
Speltz (or whatever his name is) is a joker.

Oh Bobby So adorable! I love the part when he blames the one TD Washington did get on reffing..... and also love the part when he gets all butt-hurt when a reporter didn't say the Griz were the number one team on the country. lol.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!
