Really? That’s cool. A couple Bozeman kids doing well again in Missoula
Kris Brown is going to be really, really good.
That’s good. The Griz need to fill the void of last year’s starter.

Why didn't MSU recruit Kris Brown?

Cat-Griz Saturday is my favorite day of the year.

Because he wanted to be a griz and an offer wouldn't have mattered.

He’ll probably start this year.

Well he better. He is not that good if he can’t beat out Humphrey.

My take-aways from the griz game. Just my opinions.
1) Sulser looks great - he's fast as hell and he can catch (had a fun one-handed catch in the open, and a TD where he went up high and got the ball). He'll be a problem for the Big Sky as long as he stays healthy.
2) Humphrey was inconsistent. Had a few nice throws but also missed some easy ones. Brown might be better, but whoever starts will be a step back from Sneed, at least at this point (its only Spring, long way to go before Fall).
3) Griz defense looks tough, but hard to draw any solid conclusions against a D2 school who couldn't run the ball. MSU might not rush for 400 yards again next year... maybe only 300 or so.
4) Their O-line still isn't getting a lot of push in the run game, but they did pass-protect very well.

I had similar thoughts, but the quality of opponent left me undecided. The only sure item was that Sulser is a difference maker and might even be an upgrade over JLM. Their game against Portland State will tell us a lot more, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see PSU get the win.

This would shock the hell out of me. I hope you're right, but I see the Griz beating PSU by three scores or so, especially now that they have a game under their belts to work some kinks out. Broken record here, but Bobby has them playing with a high level of intensity and effort, and they have quite a bit of talent to boot.

Sulser is a stud! I think he was a griz from day one. But darn, I wish we could have landed him.

Hating the griz since 02.

Here's an honest assessment of the game by Missoulian/Griz writer Bill Speltz.

The PSU-UM game will be interesting if for no other reason you have to think that Barnum will pull out all the stops with lots of gadget plays, etc.

I am sure you are right, but it is basically a preseason exhibition game. Anything can happen. And I could see Humphrey throwing more picks than scores when facing an athletic secondary. PSU always seems to have athletes at the skill positions.

That’s good. The Griz need to fill the void of last year’s starter.
Kris Brown is a hell of a talent. His decline, or lack of development by this staff is definitely frustrating. The move to play Patterson for the second half vs JMU was a mistake. Obviously.

This probably deserves its own thread. which I’ll provide.

Congrats on the big win with a freshman QB. Vigen is a great coach.

Yeah I didn't feel like they gave Brown much of a chance. Never rolled him out or gave him the easy throws to get his feet under him. Patterson was moving the ball but couldn't score. I wonder who the Griz go to next year or if they try to bring in a transfer.

You are talking about Bobby Hack. Of course he will bring in a transfer. That is what he does. He gets the MT kids to walk on and then gets transfers to play over most of them.
