The sad state of officiating

Post by BleedingBLue » Sun Nov 01, 2020 8:17 pm

I know we complain about BSC officials every year, and rightly so, but bad officiating is a huge issue even at the Power 5 level. I was watching Oklahoma State and Texas yesterday, and as an official myself I was appalled at the awful officiating in crunch time by the Big 12 crew on the game. They were flag happy all game, then forgot some of the rules late in the game. They threw a flag for a TE being ineligible because he was covered up on OSU's final drive. He was off the line of scrimmage, not covered up at all. That is one of the most basic things an official looks at every play. In OT they called PI on the D for an offensive player tripping over his own feet. It wasn't even close to PI. Then on OSU's OT drive they missed 2 targeting calls in 1 play. And DIDN'T EVEN REVIEW them for possible targeting. OSU had 4 turnovers and made a lot of mistakes and didn't deserve to win. But damn the refs really helped Texas late. Rant over. It's just super frustrating to see all the time.
