Good. Hopefully a couple more schools leave as well so we get down to 10 teams. If Cal Poly and UC Davis would jump then our football and basketball conferences would have the same members. The only downside is that we'd be left with only on California school (although UCD overlaps with Sac St geographically so no big loss there).

Good riddance. They add nothing to the league.

Not sure they are leaving completely, maybe football stays.

Don't tie a ribbon on it yet.

I agree that SUU and NAU may consider it.
WAC would probably take anyone that wants to play Division 1 football.

Might consider it, but what would be the advantage for SUU? Travel costs? Football with Dixie State, Tarlton State and NMSU.....a new WAC would have to sweeten a conference deal quite a bit I would think for Southern Utah. Two transitioning FCS independents and an FBS independent leftover from the old WAC? Leave a top 3 FCS conference for that?

Potential would be to try and get 2 or all 3 california schools to be football only or full members. Chicago will drop out as not able to find the funds. Shoot for SUU and NAU and you have a strong local FCS conference if you get 3 of them to drop BSC. All would consider because it makes a little better travel for football, but not the rest of sports. BSC wins be dropping to 8-9 teams and have a better conference for all sports. Win-win by having a second FCS on west coast that we can schedule against. They drag NMSU down to FCS. BSC ready then to jump to middle tier when Power 5 walk away. UNC dops back to Div 2 and becomes relevant again.

I hope they take NAU, CAL-POLY and UC-DAVIS with them. Win-Win for the Big Sky.

Respectfully disagree re: NAU. They are a long-term member of the Big Sky and fit perfectly with the rest of the schools in the league, both athletically and academically. Cal Poly and Davis, while excellent academically and strong athletically, don't fit in and shouldn't be part of the league. I think that if you don't want to play basketball, you don't fit in the BSC.

Maybe they'll convince San Diego to jump from the pioneer League

So still no word on SUU but the rumors are also that the WAC is poaching the Southland - Texas Schools for a football conference. Why they would move is beyond me but the fools on Southland are saying to move up to FBS - [-X [-X [-X
Oh well, I do think the WAC will lose Seattle and Chicago this year.

Even more transition in FCS. Could be a wild ride in the east. http://www.katfans.com/katsforum/showth ... g-UCA-ASun

Just personally, I’d love to see SUU stay in the Big Sky. We now live just 95 miles away and it’s our one chance to see our beloved Bobcats. We drove up for the appearance of the MSU Women’s Basketball team on March 4th last year, and it was the highlight of our winter. The team had to switch hotels and they ended up in ours. A really great couple of days. Very nice basketball arena, improving team, a decent crowd, and very welcoming fans. Thumbs up to the Thunderbirds on that one.

But, is the WAC aware that SUU is "criminally underrated?"
