Between 2019 and 2022 Sac State will be playing Arizona State, Fresno State X2, San Diego State, Washington, California and Colorado State. This is a slippery slope. It helps the bank account, especially since all these teams are close to home and there is "always" a chance of an upset. But, they are likely looking at 7 losses and the risk of being beaten up. Personally, I believe it helps with recruiting. I recall when I was being recruited the coach told me they were working on scheduling Army and Hawaii. The prospect was exciting and definitely had a bearing on my decision. But....it never happened.
