There have been articles that FBS may divide further into P5 and a G5. You seem to think that Cruzado would MSU in the 3rd division. Any decent President would fight to keep its relevance.

FBS is a huge, factor for enrollment. Schools that move up see enrollment increases, mostly from out of state as FBS is nearly a big advertising vehicle in the sky. FCS is crap is comparison. Not an FBS move up, but Alabama has over doubled in size since Saban became coach. App St, Ga Southern, Ga St, and Coastal Carolina continue to have more interest and larger enrollments than their FCS days.
Sioux fan??? You must mean be a fan of the University of Sioux Falls right? I recall UND is now the “Hawks” or something like that. If you are UND, we can understand how you might not understand the excitement of FCS playoff football since UND has experienced exactly 1 playoff game in the past 11 years. It must suck to be so irrelevant. And that move to the MVFC will do wonders for your fan base as you get to play 3 Dakota schools annually that will ensure 3 losses annually. Going from the cellar of the Big Sky to the cellar of the MVFC... that is a smart move.

It is very hard to understand your interest in moving up to FBS when UND’s move from DII to FCS has not been very successful. Lots of losses and little postseason participation. Even your attendance is down with less than 7,500 at your last home game.

As far as growth at MSU, we are now the largest university in the state by about 30 more students than U of M. FCS has worked well for us and we can maintain financial stability. This is just smart. And we still can draw an occasional 20,000 fans to a football game. Pretty cool if you ask me.
I meant 30 percent. Not 30. :D
Catholic,
Please check the enrollment numbers...

New coach at Dixie State with Big Sky ties:

With Division I potential on the horizon, Dixie State quickly calls up Paul Peterson from Snow College

ST. GEORGE — The past few weeks have been enough of a whirlwind to make Paul Peterson’s head spin.

When Dixie State announced that the Trailblazers would not retain head football coach Shay McClure just under a month ago, Peterson reached out. The former BYU graduate assistant had elevated Snow College to an 18-4 record in two seasons as head coach, but he let it be known that he had interest in the moving his family, including wife Meagan and five sons, to St. George.

Peterson had already applied for the job at Dixie State a few years ago; he was passed over.

This time, he wasn’t.
.......
Peterson worked as a graduate assistant under Bronco Mendenhall and Robert Anae at BYU in 2006 when the Cougars went 11-2 with a Mountain West title and No. 15 national ranking. He went on to a four-stop at Southern Utah, spending four seasons as quarterbacks and wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator under Ed Lamb, before moving up to five years as offensive coordinator at Sacramento State under former Weber State coach Jody Sears.

SUU, NAU and Weber are natural opponents. I'm pretty sure we have payed them a couple of times.

I would like to see the Big Sky Football Conference with 8-9 teams and the WAC with the rest. Doubt it happens but I would still like to see it.

https://www.deseretnews.com/article/900 ... rence.html Wasn't Dixie State Rob Ash's first home game? Looks like Dixie State will be back on MSU's schedule sometime in the future (towards the bottom of the article).

Looks like they picked up another D2 football program as independent FCS football member.

And NMSU is now looking into their options again. So that may give them 3 teams in 2020.

Augustana University wants to have an invite to a D-I by 2020. They were in the same conference as the Dakota state schools (the conference is gone now) and stayed D-II instead of moving up. They are a small school, but have big donors. If the Summit Conference and MVFC don't take them, maybe the WAC would.

St Thomas (MN) has been invited to the Summit League pending NCAA approval. They’d play football in the MVC or Pioneer.

Lots of shuffling going on.

St Thomas looks at schools like Marquette and Creighton as equals. Rumors are that UST will build a big arena on campus to get in the MVC or Big East eventually, They will be a hockey power too.
This league I talked about earlier will be returning to its Pioneering RR roots.

Great Northern and Northern Pacific Conference
Mountain Division
Idaho EWU
Mont St Mont
Weber St Denver
.
Plains Div
UND NDSU
SDSU USD
Omaha St Thomas

That's why Cruzado wants, not the less prestigious Big Sky,

The morons on this board believe that Dixie St is going to build up the WAC to FCS over ten years. Way too expensive. Their true intent is to slide into the Big Sky as soon as it breaks into pieces.

Tarleton St does not intend to move up for the worst travel situation in the US. Their intent has always been to backfill in the Southland, which will limit expenses when the Southland loses schools to an FBS WAC. Their admin isn't morons like this board. Cruzado will be jumping over to a new Summit this sports year, as into she already gave the Big Sky the two years notice, but didn't release it publicly.

Let’s revisit this post in a year, and then again a year after that for good measure. In the meantime, you may want to upgrade that tin foil hat to something stronger.
