It looks like maybe the Sun Belt had a reason to drop Idaho.
Wonder if they loose Petrino and Spear over this...

And maybe some scholarships.

Didn't Petrino also try to cover up a shoplifting case a couple years ago? And needed to be restrained from assaulting a reporter a few years ago? He's been a class act his whole life, that guy.

Indeed he did. From the Vandal fan forum:

To a much lesser degree, remember the book store stealing spree? Petrino and Spear tried to cover it up as soon as it happened. How do I know? I talked to the book store manager and he told me to my face that Petrino asked him not to file charges, don't talk to the press, say nothing and he would bring all the stuff back. Spear knew about it and approved. This is small potatoes compared to what happened to the young girl but it is a pattern. Both of them should have been sent packing 5 years ago. It reminds me of politics in DC when something bad happens. Cover you arse at all costs.

Whatever happened to Jahrie Level?

Mr. Level transferred to Stony Brook in 2013 (this was after the Bobcats beat Stony Brook in the playoffs, 16-10 in 2012. He played in 2013 and 2014.

Kind of off-topic, but what is the rationale under Title IX (2011) for why the University has to investigate off-campus incidents?
It's mentioned the article that the failure to investigate was one of the problems.....just wondering why.

I think you are 100% on topic. By what mechanism did Universities acquire such investigative powers and responsibilities? Isn't this an opportunity to set up kangaroo courts through the University Athletic departments a recipe for confusion and abuse?

The National Women's Law Center explains this aspect in Title IX as such:
If harassment creates a “hostile environment” on-campus, then the school is responsible for taking action. This includes harassment that initially occurred on the internet or off campus (e.g., during a field trip, at an away game, at a house party). This also includes harassment by someone who is not a student or employee at the school (e.g., a visiting athlete, a guest speaker). And remember, the harassment does not have to be repeated—a single or isolated incident, like a sexual assault, may be enough to trigger Title IX.

So what is a “hostile environment”? Any environment that “den[ies] or limit[s] a student’s ability to participate in or benefit from the school’s programs or activities.” For example, if a student starts skipping class or drops out of an extracurricular in order to avoid their harasser or rapist, then the school environment has become hostile, and the school needs to respond.
I know there have been cases in the past at various universities where alleged assault has occurred at an off-campus frat. It's school sponsored, so to speak, but located off campus. Some schools chose not to investigate because they deemed it off-campus. It does seem to create a fuzzy line, but I can see the logic of it.

The Vandal show continues as a petition is being pushed to "Keep Women’s Soccer, Men's Golf, and Swim & Dive at Idaho"

https://www.change.org/p/idaho-state-bo ... =868573575

<sarcasm>It must have been a surprise that dropping from FBS to FCS was going to have an effect on other sports. </sarcasm>

I am thinking of signing the petition just to keep the drama alive.

So I thought the BSU was just a junior college, why would a Vandal grad go there?

Last month, inside linebackers coach John Graham told the Lewiston Tribune that Lashley is "probably going to be one of the best, if not the best, inside linebackers in the Big Sky next year."

Oops.

Still might happen but today state board of regents announced that UI President Staben got a no confidence vote and will continue his current contract for 2018 - 2019 but will not be renewed. He a lame duck for the next year. I imagine AD will be next when the investigation into actions he took, or didn't take, is completed.

Petrino may make it out of this but when he finishes 6th in the BSC and a 5-6 record, he may not be able to survive.
