Sewak Fired @ Georgia Southern

Post by bobcatgrad2005 » Tue Nov 29, 2005 8:57 pm

Have you guys seen this? Apparently the HC & Staff were fired after loosing in the 1st round of the playoffs last weekend. They were given 4 year contract extensions in October. The AD sounds like a real prick. look @ i-aa.com, under the Ga. Southern File.

Sewak was 35-14 with three playoff apperances in four years and a semifinal apperance in 2002. What the heck do they want???????????

Actually, the AD is a pretty good human. However, with six national championships and the recruiting base they have, their alumni expect to be in Choo Choo year in and year out. Their fans are not satisfied just making the playoffs and it's criminal in their minds to not beat Ape State and Furman every year--badly. Give our Huge Human a couple more years and see what our expectations in Bozo will become, especially with the stadium expansion, improved practice facilities and what we all know he's building toward.

They also fired Tim Stowers a couple of years after he won the national championship.

Not unless you want to run the triple-option.

I love the option and we should have been running it this year with Travis and Groves, but I know it is hard to learn.

I wonder if the melt down in the second half of that game had anything to do with it.
I'm definitely thinking the staff shouldn't be gone. But, they were dominating that game. When I saw the score it was something like 35-6 ish. The commentators were talking about how Georgia Southern's tradition carries them through big games. I couldn't believe it the next day when I saw they lost.

I love the option Furman runs--and they use the counter trey as well as ISU, NDSU and we did the last game of the year  I think we'll see a lot of baby buffalo plays next year.

option as a play = good
option as a style of O = bad memories of the late 80's

I watched GSU blow that lead against Texas State right after I watched CP beat the Griz, so I only caught about the second half.

It was unbelievable, all of the sudden Tx St could move at will, they have a talented QB and a very solid set of WRs.
