Grizzlies Marching Band

Post by catpilot » Thu Oct 19, 2017 10:10 pm

I bleed blue and gold, but this is a crappy situation for a lot of young Montana folks, I think Bobcatnation can get together a dollar or two and get the Griz marching band to the game. It's not their fault UM is such a goat rope!

http://gf.me/u/dm7vbx should get you to their gofundme page

I hope the Griz lose by 70 and their band gets to go to the game!

You're correct, it isn't their fault and it certainly isn't ours either. Why would anyone donate to their band when that same money could help any team, club or person of need in OUR own MSU community?

I don't think U of M needs any of my money. Heck, the J-School is losing a big benefactor because of the dean's stupidity. Maybe Larry Abramson can find money for the Griz Band in his budget.

I hope the griz band is able to go to the game. But my money is going to the new MSU facilities.

I remember when the MSU band had to stand on the sidelines in Missoula, because they sold the tickets they were supposed to give our band.

FTG... If they need money they should take it from that huge chunk DW just gave them.

Ya, and what was the deal in 2010 when they wouldn't let the MSU AD into the press boxes or sky boxes to watch the game?

My seats are near where the missoula band sits. I'm excited about not having to listen to them this year. \:D/

If it was that important for them to come maybe they could have allocated some of the funds for the new non-champions center to the band. :-({|=

Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

If I am correct here, the Marching Band is not part of Athletics. So the only time that the Athletic Department spends money on the Band is every other year when they come to Bozeman (or when they go to a championship game or March madness). Any business person would look at a 17K line item used every other year for one day is not a sound investment, it makes sense to spend that money elsewhere...Now saying that, I feel that UM did a terrible job of announcing this, and not making sure people understand the when, what, where, and why's of this decision. It came across like they were saying "We love our band, and they are extremely important to all of us...just not important enough"

No griz band means more seats for fans. Give those seats to Cat fans, FTG

This particular funding problem may be solved, but this is just a symptom of a much bigger problem at UM.

There might be...

But I remember when our cheerleaders had to go find a sponsor for their uniforms! They had "Golds Gym" printed on them. That was pretty pathetic...

I would rather give money to ISIS, before donating to the Griz marching band...

They are a MARCHING band. If they start marching now they might make it in time for the game. Giving money to the giz band or any other giz organization would be worse than selling my soul.

If they can find enough donors to sponsor lockers and contribute to their Taj Mahal sports complex, then they can find sponsors to fix their other issues. The Mansfield library at dUMb has major funding issues, but I doubt their football fans care about that.

Maybe the school of journalism will help fund them - they seem to have to be flexing their power to shape the outcomes they desire?
