After the beatings they took from UW and WSU I thought they'd never recover. Is a bowl game possible?

They finish with Georgia State and South Alabama at home and they play a pretty bad Texas State team on the road. I'd say they have a good chance of being bowl eligible. Pulling that off would be quite a feat, and given his last name I would think Petrino will have a chance to stay in the FBS as a head coach with a different team.

Idaho signed him to a mult-year contract earlier this fall. I know that doesn't mean that much, but at least Idaho might get some nice $ in a contract buy out.

Petrino's son is a frosh QB at Idaho, so I would think he'll stay there and coach for three more years.

I think they are going to a bowl game. Interesting they beat the Cats, UNLV and ULM by 3 then New Mexico State by 22. At least 2 left on their schedule are beatable. I hope they do it!

Wyoming is 4-2 should be 5-1. Should win a couple more with their schedule. A good match up for a bowl game would be Idaho vs Wyoming in the Potato bowl in Boise. They might get a decent crowd!

Cowboys are now 6-2 and 4-0 in their division. Idaho is 4-4.

Yeah, I know. I simply choose to not even mention that other school's name. Especially now when I look at the Big Sky Conference standings. To all of us older folks I hang out with this is a really strange combination of schools shoved together to form a geographical nightmare that doesn't make sense to me or them on a lot of levels. I am impressed with what Bohl seems to be accomplishing in Laramie though. If he keeps it up, he may have them back to the Tiller era.

Idaho is now 5-4 with three winnable games coming up against Texas State (2-7), South Alabama (4-5) and Georgia State (2-6). Last two at home. Only three teams with winning records in the Sun Belt.

They will be 9-4 if they hang onto a 41-14 lead over Colorado State.

9 wins ties the number of wins over the last 5 seasons.

61-50 U of I, just over 1200 yds of total offense. Turned out to be one heck of a game.

As butt hurt as all their fans and boosters already were about dropping down to FCS, I bet their blood is really boiling now, coming off their best season in the 20 years since they moved up. I wonder if they might still try to back out of their commitment to joining the BSC, and make one more last ditch attempt at trying to find an FBS conference to take them. They'd have to be at least slightly more attractive to the MWC now, coming off a 9-4 season. Although obviously they still have some other issues that hurt them, regardless of how successful they are on the field. Still though, especially if they can replicate this year's success again next season, it's going to be a very bitter pill for their fans to swallow, when they drop down in 2018. It would have been one thing if they were coming off another 1-11 season, but it's obviously a lot different after going 9-4 with a bowl game win.

So Idaho has one more season as an independent before joining the Big Sky? I assume they'll start trimming back their scholarships from 85 right now unless they have a large number of seniors in the next class. Or are they cut down to 63 immediately? It'll be interesting to see their list of recruits this year. Kind of an odd circumstance that they're in.

The BSC deserves one team each year and that's the auto bid. This conference sucks from top to bottom even the auto bid team is crap on a national scale.

It's not competitive, it's not good, it's not even average. Look at the BSC record in the playoffs the last 10 years......then start cobbeling your excuses and spray them around so it makes yourself feel better.

I don't disagree with your basic premise that the BSC isn't as good as it once was, but as usual, you exaggerate so wildly in an effort to make your point, that your argument completely loses it merit You imply that the BSC has sucked for the last 10 years, but EWU won a NC and UM made it to the NC game twice within the past 10 years. And again, this year EWU advanced just as far in the playoffs as mighty NDSU. "Anyone with a clue" should already know all these things that I just pointed out to you.
