Cherry went out of the game with 4:40 left in reglation to an injury to his right foot. Will was quoted as saying that the right foot feels the same now as when he broke it in September. X-ray is probably today.

This was on Twitter earlier today:
Sad news. Good kid and a dangerous team when healthy. MT @bigskybball Word out of Montana is that Will Cherry has indeed re-broken his foot.
Feel bad for the kid, especially as a senior. Damn good ball player and I hope he recovers fully.

To bad for him and his fans. The Griz will be fine....teams tend to rise to the occasion when stuff like this happens.

Real bummer if true. Cherry has every bit of talent that Damion Lillard from Weber had, and we see what he's doing in the NBA this season. I thought this kid had a real shot at the pros. He still might, but I am sure his draft stock will go down significantly with an injury to the foot that keeps popping up. Here's to hoping he can get healthy again and get picked up by an NBA team.

I feel bad for him. I have been in a no pressure boot for the last 5 weeks with a 5th Metarsal 'Jones' fracture break in my foot (freak baskeball sprain). I get my next set of xrays next week but as of week 4 it was slow healing. From all I have read surgery is the way to go on the 'Jones' fracture but they want it to natural heal (which can take 8-16 weeks) ughhh. I will be very upset if go that long and and I re-break it like Will Cherry sounds like he just did. I've broken other bones but man the foot is the worst.

X-rays on the Grizzles’ senior point guard’s injured right foot were negative. Cherry re-injured the foot -the same one he broke in September – during Montana’s overtime loss to Davidson on Saturday. I don’t have any additional info for now, but will post updates when I do.

Very tough loss for the Griz. Ward could also be out for the year. Two admirable seniors who represent Griz Bball as well as any ever have. I've watched Griz hoops since 1978 and rank Will in the top 10 alltime Griz players. From the day he walked onto campus he was a leader and player that few can compare to. Tough and athletic, needed to develop offensive skills and his shot and did. Griz game vs. Davidson was a classic and coach Tinkle showed his leadership throughout. Will gets in foul trouble early, Ward is out, Davidson is good and gets off to a great start......and the Griz take them to OT. Cherry and Jamar would not be denied in the second half, and the complimentary players stepped up big throughout the game. One of the best college games I've seen this year.
Hope Griz can rebound in remaining BSC games and host the tourney. Cat game this Sat. will be one of the keys in that happening.
....Is this post OK for you BAC?

Cherry is Great, but if Ward is out the Griz are in trouble I think (definately if both are out). Cherry is the flash (great player), but Ward is the GLUE that holds that team together (great inside outside player). How did Ward get hurt?

Ward was hurt in the ISU game. Foot injury (arch) but not sure how or when in that game. Yes, I'd think Griz are out of NCAA contention with both these guys hurt but they played w/out Ward on Sat. and Will only got 22 minutes due to fouls in first half and injury late in game. I took away lots of good feelings about our program on Sat. Tinkle is quite a leader and has obviously found players that buy into the system. Griz will go forward with "next year's team" and see how far they can take it. Minus the great player and glue, I wouldn't sell them short.

Well the Big Sky definately isn't as good as it has been in years past so I don't doubt they can still win games. Just saying I am a big fan of Ward. He is a very solid player.

Will Cherry is a good player, but come on now.
Lillard is going to be the NBA Rookie of the Year barring injury. Will Cherry wouldn't have even been drafted, prior to his injury.

Any word on Cherry's return? I hope he gets back on the court this year - be a shame to see him finish like this.

Kind of sounding like Will might return for BSC tourney but Ward may be more likely to miss rest of games. Loved watching DeShields the other night. Kid has game and a little swagger. Google up "Mario Dunn", another Oakland PG coming to Missoula next year. Tinkle says "more athletic than Will". If he can add "tough and competitive as Will" that would be a combination.
