I know it's deadspin, but they do publish some serious stories sometimes...and this seems to be one.
If this story is indeed true......WOW.

I just got done reading the article and was about to post it here too. I just don't know what to think....Is Deadspin onto something that no other news station in the country picked up on!? I can't believe they would put this out there for a joke or if they didn't look into it.

If this is true, and the ND football player knew it was BS the whole time, but went with it for publicity ... well, that's a Notre Dame hoax that gives Rudy a run for his money.

I can't tell if T'eo was part of the hoax or if he truly had no idea.

If he didn't realize it was a hoax then, well, those academic standards that ND always brags about are clearly also BS.

Sooo...just to recap 3 of Notre Dame's 4 linebackers this year.

1 got arrested for threatening a cop.
1 had a fake girlfriend.
1 (allegedly) raped a girl who then committed suicide because the school covered it up. Seriously, look up the Prince Shembo thing, it's disgusting.

Oh and they sent a kid 40 feet up in the air on a scissor lift during a 50 mph wind storm.

Classy university they got there.

Businesses looking for attention know how to get it these days: tie it to Manti Te'o, the Notre Dame linebacker in the midst of a fake girlfriend scandal.

On Thursday morning, Spirit Airlines posted an ad on its website proclaiming: "No hoax. These fares are really low," written in Notre Dame's blue and yellow just like its famous "Play Like A Champion Today" sign.

As part of the promotion in late May, the first 1,000 fans would get an empty bobblehead box, there will be a pretend kiss cam for fans to kiss their imaginary friends and there will be an imaginary food fight in the kids' area, as well as an air guitar contest.

Late Thursday evening, an independent baseball team, the Florence (Ky.) Freedom, announced it would have "Manti Te'o Girlfriend Bobblehead Day."

As part of the promotion in late May, the first 1,000 fans will get an empty bobblehead box, there will be a pretend kiss cam for fans to kiss their imaginary friends and there will be an imaginary food fight in the kids' area, as well as an air guitar contest.

"There's not a lot to do to get attention in January," Freedom general manager Josh Anderson said. "You have to find some way to get the buzz."

Anderson said things might die down by May 23, the day of the promotion, but the team is committed to it nonetheless.
