POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State Director of Athletics Jeff Tingey has announced that Holt Arena will be getting new field turf thanks to the sponsorship of ISU Credit Union. The turf will be installed in July of this year. The new turf is currently undergoing the required bid process for the state of Idaho.
“We appreciate this gift from ISU Credit Union,” Tingey said. “This gift allows us to have the turf in place by July. The partnership between Idaho State University Athletics and ISU Credit Union has been around for many years and will continue in part because their generosity and investment into the lives of all ISU students and student-athletes.”
The new turf system will be a non-permanent surface; one that can be removed from Holt Arena on a regular basis. All though more expensive, the new turf will be safer and higher quality.
“This is a great day for Idaho State University and ISU Credit Union,” ISU Credit Union CEO Rob Taylor said. “It is nice to see it come this point where we can continue with these partnerships in such an important endeavor as this new field. We are proud to contribute to this improvement of Holt Arena by sponsoring the ISU Credit Union Caccia Field.”
The addition and installation of the new turf will positively impact the recruitment of student-athletes, the fundraising efforts of the athletic department and the ability to sell advertising in Holt Arena.
A reduction in shoulder, ankle and knee injuries will be immediately noticed with the implantation of the new turf.
Idaho State is one of the only remaining schools nationwide that uses the current turf system.
This current system has posed problems for the recruiting and retention of student-athletes as well as bringing in opponents to the Idaho State University and Holt Arena for both the University and the local high schools.
