Eck has them at 6-3 and a shot at the MW title.....
and a bowl game for the first time since 2016.
I have to wonder how long Eck will be at UNM for. Hell of a coach to do what he's done at both Idaho and now New Mexico.
Wisconsin is going to say adios to Fickell at the end of the season. I would bet the Eck (an Alum) is supremely high on the list of replacements.

Badger fans might not be satisfied with a head coach who has just three years at the FCS level and one year at a Mountain West school. Wisconsin, with its historically strong program, is likely looking to make a bold move—this isn’t like Indiana, which might settle for an up-and-coming coach like Cignetti, who had a much more decorated head coaching resume when hired.

I have seen some talk about how Fickell has ignored historical strengths of the Wisconsin program, like lineman from their own state. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them go with a Wisconsin alum like Eck. Eck also has that blue collar mentality that the fanbase loves.

The Wisconsin AD said yesterday that Fickell will be back for 2026, so there's one less potential landing spot for Eck at least for now.

Yeah and there is a bunch of people not happy about it. I think what the AD is really saying is we don't have a booster that's willing to foot the $25 million buyout so we are stuck with him for another year.
