Lowest seeded final four?

Post by RickRund » Mon Mar 27, 2023 9:21 am

With a final of a 9, 5, 5, 4 this looks like the lowest seeded final as far as I could find. Wondering if sport books have taken a beating?

I'd guess that the Sportsbooks have done quite well this year in the Tournament. Bettors tend to like to put their money on the top seeds and traditional power teams like Kentucky, Duke, Michigan State, Kansas, etc. so a year like this with three Final Four teams making their first ever appearance should be pretty good for them.

Long shots winning doesn’t mean sports books lose. They adjust the spread to keep the bets balanced, if they start leaning one way. Ideally, they want the initial line to stay the same and for all the bets to be split. They do lose but it’s rare that they lose a lot on one game.
