Heard afterwards that the Huskies were without the top 3 or 4 receivers. CBS Sports said 3 but a local station said 4. Have not heard why (injury, COVID, discipline, ?). Did this make the Huskies one dimensional? I thought they had a good stable of running backs returning though. Had another commitment so I wasn't able to watch. Don't even know if it was on locally. Maybe the PAC12 Network?
I'm sure it made a difference - any time you're missing good players it doesn't help. But according to the stats on ESPN, UW got 226 yards passing and only 65 yards rushing so it doesn't seem like losing those receivers made them rely on the run game.
But they had to throw 46 passes to get those 226 yards. Very inefficient. The QB threw 3 interceptions and all of them were way off target from what I understand.

As I pointed out earlier, a win and loss like this hasn't shown a trend for how the teams play afterwards. Small sample size, but you have ASU winning the national championship, EWU and NDSU making the semis, and JMU not even making the playoffs at 6-5. I don't consider Cincy a FCS team in 1983, so I won't include them here. They were FBS/I-A in 1982 and 1984. The losers are a mixed bag as well. Michigan went on to finish 18th in the nation after beating Florida in the Citrus Bowl, VT made it to the Orange Bowl and finished No. 10, but Oregon St. and Iowa finished unranked.

Who knows if UW will bounce back and be in the hunt for the PAC 12 as advertised or if they'll finish unranked and the same goes for UM.

I don't considered the Top 25 to always be filled with the elite teams of the FBS, especially not the initial Top 25. I think the top 2-3 teams in the FCS are just as good as many teams in the bottom ten of the Top 25 and below. The elite FBS teams have a lot of separation between them and everyone else.

I think if you look at the preseason top 25 and compare it the final top 25 every year, you'll find quite a few teams from the preseason top 25 that aren't even receiving votes in the final poll.
Wasn’t Washington picked 1 or 2 in the PAC 12? The Griz defense simply man handled them. It was an impressive win my a 21 point under dog. You should just leave it at that. The more attention you give to and the over analyzing you do just seems irrational. Let this thread die and move on to the next game. No offense meant to you, but it’s just one of those things it was on sports center all weekend. So you just can’t compete against ESPN so don’t try.
Nowhere did I say it’s not an impressive win. Not sure why you want the thread to die. These are rare moments that only come along every 3-4 years. You don’t get a chance to talk about these things often.

No one has pointed out the fact, with historical data, that winning a game like this doesn’t guarantee future success or losing it doesn’t guarantee future failure. So I’m doing so. Sorry if it’s bothering you. I’m not sure what else to tell you. Perhaps put me on ignore.
My daughter was at the game-she said UW didn't have a large mix of plays and once the friz figured it out it was pretty easy to defend. They kept calling the same plays over and over. Lot of fans were pissed at their OC

Michigan has moved into the Top 25 this week at No. 25. UW plays Arkansas State at home next. ASU lost to Memphis, which has had a solid G5 program for several years now, 55-50.

A lot of the thrill of beating UW is gone, but they're an FBS team from a big conference and it's still a big win. They have their conference championship to go after, but seeing Oregon beat OSU makes think that's not happening. Hopefully they turn it around, so it's we can brag about it when the season is over. 8-4? maybe?

The best part of the Griz beating UW was that they did it despite the PAC12 refs doing everything in their power to save the huskies.

They did call more penalties against UM and UW only was called for three penalties. Not sure how many missed calls there were. MSU was in the same situation vs. Wyoming and MWC refs. Penalties were even, but the punt return penalty was ginormous. I thought WYO got their FG with some help from the refs. I saw a couple other missed calls. I would've liked to have seen how that game plays out with MSU up 14-3 right there after the PR TD or even at 17-9 about halfway through the fourth. Wyoming, not a good passing team, would've been forced to start throwing the ball more.

UW almost always got there drives started with a first down and always looked like they were about to get rolling. I think UM went three and out all but twice until the fourth quarter. But neither team ever veered from their original plan since the score stayed close all night, which was also like the MSU-Wyoming game. The interceptions really hurt UW.

Looking at UW's remaining schedule I have a hard time seeing them do better than 7-5. They have a couple games they should win coming up with Ark. State and Cal, but the next six are going to be tough to break .500. Maybe they'll do a 2010 VaTech and rattle off 11 straight after losing their first two, including one to JMU.

Yep, Hauck is back. 0-3 in National Championship games. Time will tell if he can finally close the deal on that some year... IF he can even get a team to Frisco in this day and age.

Hearing UW is getting a couple more players back this week for the Arkansas St. game. They still have a lot to play for, so you’d think that they would be able to put them away early.

The PAC 12 is totally unpredictable. I wouldn’t be surprised to see UW turn it around as their top players return.

And no longer #20. Depending on which poll there is a huge gap. I think I saw a high 40s up to high 70s. I saw a tweet that had the guy posting proud they beat the #20 team in the nation. It was a good win but is no longer overly impressive...

Interesting start pointed out about UW. The only two games they have won have been against FBS teams with a combined total wins against FBS opponents of zero

Huskies about to lose to 0-6 Arizona down 16-7 at the beginning of the 4th. They are absolutely a terrible team and um’s win there should not count as a quality win.

Reminds me of Weber. Promising season with returning talent…but tons of injuries on D and an offense that can’t get out of its own way.
