wow biggest screw job I've ever seen

Post by technoCat » Sun Sep 15, 2013 12:41 am

Watching the end of the Wisconsin game, ASU got an absolute gift from the refs. Such a travesty to see an amazingly well played game not get decided by the players. Were these guys big sky refs in disguise?

That was a terrible job of reffing. I hope they get reprimanded.

ASU lays on the ball for 10 seconds and they let the clock run, total garbage.

No! I'm afraid their reprimand will be being sent to the BSC. We don't need more of their quality.

The QB from Wisconsin didn't take a knee and set the ball down...looked like a fumble to me, am I looking at it wrong? The refs should have stopped the clock.

Qb didn't spike it either, I think he's ultimately to blame...not the officials

Should have been ASU ball since the recovered it.

In college once the ball touches the ground you are down. Had he kneeled and then handed the ball to the ref they would have had enough time to spike the ball and then try the FG.

But they did not blow the play dead at that point. Yes the clock would run, but nobody seemed to know the play was dead till the ASU guys jumped on it.

The ref blew the play dead and you could see Stave checking to make sure he had. The ref just never relayed that to the umpire. There should have been a delay of game. This was no fumble, either he gave himself up and the play is dead with the clock running or he had an incomplete pass and the clock stops.

The Pac 12 reprimanded the officials. Wisconsin still gets hosed.

NO, a year or so back we had a play where the QB had the ball in his hand and put it on the ground to steady his balance, then continued the play, the whistle was not blown. in order to be down you need to put a body part above the wrist or ankle on the ground.

He gave himself up by kneeling. His problem is he put the ball on the ground and allowed ASU to jump on it. Should've handed the ball to the ref. Refs screwed up big time by not giving them a chance to kick the ball.

Whether the QB actually knelt down or not is irrelevant. You can clearly hear the referee blow the play dead. At that point the offensive play is over. When the ASU player laid on the ball after the whistle, it was delay of game, a 5 yd. penalty and the clock should have stopped. It was obvious the refs didn't know what to do, though.
