NAU Coaches

Post by mquast53000 » Thu Jun 23, 2005 2:55 pm

Pulled this off of egriz:
Four coaching positions just opened at NAU.

What is going on there?

NAU: Four full time positions have posted at Northern Arizona
University. Information and access are listed below:* QB/Off Coor * OL/Center-Guard * OT/TE * WR. Apply online: http://hr.nau.edu/ Fax resumes to (928)523-6035; Questions: (928)523-6549
Well I guess that it is going to be a cellar year for NAU. I really thought that NAU would be a sleeper of a team this year. I wonder what is going on over there...

Are assistant coaching positions usually listed like that (or are they perhaps required to be under state law)? It seems like those kinds of positions are usually filled via the head coaches social/professional network without the formality of a regular application and interview process.

A weirder thing is why are the coaches just leaving or why are the positions just opening this close to the football season? The only coaches that they might find are high school coaches…

There is a similar post on AGS- noone seems to know if they walked or were axed, but it's poor timing one way or the other.

Have to agree with Quast though, it seems mighty that the personel office is seeking resumes with a June 27 deadline.

Just thought I'd post the requirements for the NAU Offensive Coordinator position

http://hr.nau.edu/m/job/298/313/554956

Interesting timing. Souers must really be feeling the heat to produce this year. The position officially opened on June 13.

The only Offensive Coach listed is Gary Guthmiller - who incidentally used to coach here at Carroll.

Apparently NAU had to advertise the openings even though temporary coaches have been hired.

From reading the artical, it looks like all the NAU coaches were in place before spring practice. So that shouldn't be a problem. About the only problem would be some effect to the recruiting that was going on during January/Feb.

I don't think it will be as big an issue as might be thought.

When you get blown out by MSU like they were at HOME. Something has to happen. Not surprised several are gone, to typically save the head coach his job.
