From a Furman Fan

1. Congrats! You manhandled us. (I do wish Felton had been healthy but it prolly woulddn't have mattered) - GREAT JOB !!!!!

2. I will say that I hate all the talk about you winning and that 'proving you belong' in the playoffs. That is simply not true. To take that logic to its full extension that would mean a 2-9 regular season team that gets invited to the playoffs and wins the NC 'deserved to be in the playoffs'. You get in and 'deserve the invite' based on what you did in the regular season. Again, I don't want you to take this wrong though - You were impressive today and I hope yo beat App :). I just always get irked when people try to justify the postseason invite based on what they did in the postseason - the invite is based only on regular season.

GOOD LUCK NEXT WEEK !!!!!!

I was the first Furman fan over here last Sunday, but it looks like gofurman beat me over here today.

Heckuva win Bobcats. That was one of the worst games I've seen Furman play (part FU's fault, part due to MSU's good play) and MSU did what good teams do...they took advantage of our mistakes and made us pay. I wish we would have played better, even if we didn't win, but it wasn't our day. Congrats on the big win!

If recent history holds true, you guys are on your way to the national championship! :D The last 2 teams to put Furman out have won the NC. Anyways, we'll see how it all plays out.

Finally, thanks to all of you for being so kind to the Furman fans that came to your board to visit. I'm really not used to being able to go to another team's board and being welcomed. You guys have been great representatives of your university! Hopefully one day you guys can make it down to Greenville.

Congrats again on the big win! Good luck in Boone next week (at least it looks like that's where you'll be going). It's a tough place to play, but you guys will be fine. Probably my last visit over here (unless you win the NC, then I'll come to congratulate), so everyone take care and good luck for the rest of the playoffs!

- Vance

Thanks Furman-- our defense played well. You competed well. It was a tough day to come north and play in the mountains. Good luck next year!

yep congrats to the bobcats. i was glad to get to play a different team BUT i think this game was LOST when we had to go on the road to ya'll's place.

you all played well and deserved to win. we did not play well, but we have been up and down all season. i believe you all were definitely the better team and would beat us 9 out of 10 in montana. in greenville, it might have been different.

congratulations again! good luck aggainst app state!

Congrats on the great year Furman. I imagine that the long trip and bad weather had to take its toll and we didn't see the full fury of the rushing attack. As a favor before all the Furman fans sign off from the board, would someone mind posting an insiders scouting report on App State? (unless of course Coastal Carolina comes up with a miracle)

A lot of blitzes much like you guys - you will have to deflect their speed D with screens etc. Generally on D they are very fast but a little smallish. When we beat them last year (we were the last 1aa team to beat App) we ran Felton at them a lot. Size straight at their speed. On O they have a great Oline with a very good back name Richardson. Their passing game is pretty good though their QB is prone to fumble (Edwards) if you can hit him and strip the ball.

I'll tell you what, that #22 in white can run the rock. I'm very glad that the Cats D stuffed the run at the first half.

It was rather odd seeing the play selection towards the end of the game. If I'd have told someone that one team was up 31-7, I bet they would have guessed Furman just based on playcalls.

We were passing, Furman was running. No clock killing going on on our end!

I'm sure the cold effected the Paladins a bit today - a couple of fumbles and such. Nice that the Gamecocks hooked them up with some sideline coats!

Thanks for all the well-wishes, furman fans. You played tough, travelled far. Was hoping to be able to offer someone in purple some hot cocoa  Maybe next year, huh? Thanks for a good time anyway!

Towards the end of the game, one of the Furman players was waving to the Cat fans and making gestures as if to say "Thank you."

I know the Paladins were cold, but hopefully they were greeted warmly in Big Sky country.

I did see one asshat throw a snowball towards the end while the refs were debating what to call on the punt return. Eventually, they called unsportsmanlike on #7 in white. But I didn't see what happened.

Overall, the Furman fans were very friendly (the ones I saw and greeted.) I hope they enjoyed their trip to Bozeman despite the outcome.

The guy next to me said, "I doubt any of these Furman kids will be moving here. They look COLD."

#7 got flagged for unsportsmanlike for spiking the ball in disgust after getting thrown for a loss on the punt return.

I figured it was something like that. Still someone throwing a snowball at the refs was uncalled for. But one asshat amongst 9,000+ is ok.

I saw the guy that threw it; he was wearing dark pink and silver and there was a bear on the back of his jacket...

Thanks Furman-it was a tough day for you guys. I think the travel and cold was a factor. We will be in the same boat next week traveling to Boone. I met a couple of you at the Grant Tree hotel on Friday night and you are a class group! Hopefully we will meet again someday. We have had some games this year like you guys did today. So we know how it is!

Have a safe trip back to Greenville!

All I can say is congrats for a great win. It sounds like the cats played pretty solid in all phases of the game.

That must absolutely kill you to here that from a Griz fan. But based on your smart ass comment, it sound like we could have had 20,078 instead of 20,077 in Missoula if than dumb ass fan had not made a wrong turn in Bozeman and ended up in the wrong stadium.

20,077 - a I-AA record. That hurts too, doesn't it.

Looking for validation over here?

Good luck with that.

Why would that "hurt"? Great job, as always, by the Griz and their fans.

Sure, if you bake. Question. Do you wear a dress and apron when you bake? I would like oatmeal raisin please. With a glass of milk.

I'm really happy for the Cats. I'm just calling BS on El Gato's uncalled for comment. He may want a cookie too.
