Let there be lights
These 12:00 p.m. kickoffs are just too early. If every podunk high school in this country can light their stadiums, why can't MSU?
I think a 2 or 3 p.m. kickoff would be ideal.
Oh well, I'm about to head over my college football Mecca. Bobcat Stadium. Go Cats.

So its okay for high school kids to play in the cold (FRIDAY NIGHTS) but not college kids? I have always wondered why our stadium did not have lights. I still can not figure out why.BobCatFan wrote:At this time of year, when the sun goes down, it gets cold. This is the main reason why MSU does not have lights. Same with Missoula.
Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

Friday nights should be reserved for High School anyway! Why create conflicts... Saturdays give most people across the state a chance to travel to see the colleges play.... a lot of that would be eliminated by Friday night games and it would hurt the colleges because high schools traditionally play the vast majority of their games Fridays. I like Saturdays... best time to watch football and have a chance after to celebrate the Bobcats wins!

I'm not sure anybody was suggesting that MSU play on Friday night. I assumed they were suggesting late afternoon Saturday games.CatFamily wrote:Friday nights should be reserved for High School anyway! Why create conflicts... We ain't Michigan and this ain't the Big 10.
I wouldn't suggest playing at night this time of year, but a 2 or 3 p.m. kickoff sure would be better. Today's was a really late arriving crowd.
A night game in September though-that would be fun.
We could accomodate TV a lot easier if we had lights-Billings could get their Notre Dame game and the Bobcats live.

I like the idea of lights. You wouldn't be playing night games in November but later afternoon games wouldn't be bad. Night games in September would be cool because not every highschool game is played on Friday Nights. You could attend your Saturday eight man game and make it to Bozeman that night. What a great day of football that would be. I don't know what they would cost but maybe include them with the renovations we love to talk about.

At this time of year (after daylights savings), we would have one, maybe two games under the lights.BelgradeBobcat wrote: I wouldn't suggest playing at night this time of year, but a 2 or 3 p.m. kickoff sure would be better. Today's was a really late arriving crowd.
And the rest of the state would miss out on the late ABC games. We could accomodate TV a lot easier if we had lights-Billings could get their Notre Dame game and the Bobcats live.
What's the difference between you and a mallard with a cold? One's a sick duck. I can't remember how it ends but your mother's a whore.

Most high school teams do not play games late into November. Most high school teams are done by the end of October and most playoff games are played on Saturday afternoon. AA might be the exception.badasscat wrote:So its okay for high school kids to play in the cold (FRIDAY NIGHTS) but not college kids? I have always wondered why our stadium did not have lights. I want lights...bring them on. I think more people would be able to go to the games at night also.
On any given day in the fall, we have a chance of it being frigid during the day. Yesterday, for example, would have been fine for a night game. On the flip side, it could have been 5 degrees out at noon. We never know what the weather is going to do here.
Lights would be an awesome addition. I agree there are other ways to spend money, but this would be one of the better ones. By the way, they could make some of the money up selling blankets, heat packs, and hot chocolate because we know darn well people would go to the game unprepared.

I am not in favor of lights.
While we don't have the furthest to travel, it does take us two hours to get to the game. If we didn't get home until 11 or 12 or even 1 in the morning, especially with two little kids, it would really mess up our Sunday.
Also, we hit a deer last night on the way home (actually just grazed it, so no real damage), but it scared my wife and girls to death, especially since she was driving. It is the second deer we have hit on the way back to Helena from a late fall Cat game (last one was in 2002, and remember what happened that year....so if you believe in fate.....
)Of course, deer on the road are a fact of life, and can happen at any time, but I'd hate to have to dodge deer on a regular basis just to come home from Cat games.
I guess my point is not the deer, but my bottom line is that it would be more difficult for us to travel to games if they were on Saturday nights.
Besides, I just like Saturday afternoon College Football.
Just my two cents.

True.BozCatFan wrote:Thats a good point, Helena Cat. Travel might be an issue but I'm sure you could get a hotel on occassion for night games. There would only probably be two or three a year.
But it does add to the expense. It's already a "hit" to support the team and come to the games (don't get me wrong, I LOVE to do it). But with booster membership, tickets, gas, food, BEER, BEER, BEER (which is why my wife drives home

It costs a few bucks.
Honestly, the "night game" issue is the main reason why we don't make it to Basketball games. If they had more games on Sat afternoon, there would be a greater likelihood that we would make the drive down to see a game or two - but I'm not advocating moving BB games to Sat afternoon.
