While the offense certainly has it's problems, the lack of output being the most glaring concern, most of the responsibility there falls on execution. Watching the game film, Kramer could point out an individuals critical error that effected almost every play on offense. Wether it was a missed blocking assignment, too slow to the hole by our RBs, a missed read by our recievers, or a bad read by our QB's.
On defense, however, there were several times where the proper personnel package was rushing into the game and trying to get set way too late. Without Force out there this became more and more of a problem as the game continued.
Kramer's concern is that there are three guys up in the booth for defense, and none of them have been up there during a game before this year (seems like an obvious no-no to me, but they tried it). They recognize the opposing O's packages a little late which trickles down to the defensive scheme being called late, the end result is mass confusion; too many men on the field, guys running around at the line just as the ball is being snapped, etc.
I'm not saying that being on the field 80% of the time isn't a factor as well, but the D's growing pains seem to be with our young coaching staff more so than the players. Christoff has been on the sidelines so far, because he likes to be hands on during the game. The rumor is that he will be up in the booth this week so he can better keep an eye on what the opposition is doing.
Like I said yesterday, we just have a lot of pieces that need to fall together. Our cupboard is far from bare.
