Moral Dilemma

Post by catatac » Wed Sep 13, 2006 4:18 pm

So my Griz fan buddy has been listening to me whine about the Chadron loss, and he’s so confident that the CATS will bounce back against Davis, that he wants to bet me on the game. Now before I get crucified here… I have never bet against the CATS, but here’s my thinking. If we beat Davis, I’ll be so damn happy about it (because it will mean that CO wasn’t a fluke and we ARE a damn good team) that I won’t mind paying him off. If we lose, God forbid… then at least I’ll get some $$ out of the deal and it might lessen the pain? Plus, my luck has been running so bad lately… my betting on them just might help them win? Give me your advice and I’ll do what the voices of Bobcat Nation tells me to do.

Great time to be a BOBCAT!

Betting against your own team just sounds like bad karma to me.

Rule #1 - NEVER BET ON YOUR TEAM(For or against)

Rule #2 - If you break rule #1 DO NOT bet agains them.

Better to not bet and cheer for the Cats. Any money won would be blood money and would not be much fun to spend. The only good that could possibly come would be taking money from a Griz fan.

Man, don't do it! The loss of a little bit of cash is but a trivial thing in terms of betrayal to your team. I don't care if we were playing Notre Dame, NEVER BET AGAINST YOUR TEAM!

Superstitious creampuffs, yeesh! Dude, it sounds like a win-win. If MSU is victorious, the dough you payout will be nothing compared to the euphoria you feel at the rebound.

If, on the other hand, you guys lose, the dough you make will be a cushion and will be a good downpayment on the four-day booze, mescaline, and hooker bender that will be necessary to restore you to your normal even temper.

It simply is not worth it, especially with a friend who is a Griz. Win or lose on the bet, he will forever pull out this card and beat you over the head with it.

"Yeah, Bob here is such a big 'Cat fan that he actually bet against them and I bet FOR them. And I won the bet!"

Not worth it at all.

Whining is not tolerated, period!

Tell him there is no way in hell you will ever bet against the Bobcats and that whatever money he's talking about you're willing to double in a 'Cat/griz bet.

Win or lose, you'll be able to live with yourself because you're a Bobcat fan!!

The solution as I see it is:
1. make the Bet, then find another jizer to go the other way. You have hedged your bet, but, you can tote to ejizzer fans that you had a fellow jizer so confident in the CATS that he felt the Chadron game was a fluke. You get to piss off one of your two buddies.

2. If you can't find another jizer to bet against the cats, sign em all up and post on ejizz that they are so confident the CATS will win they have proven that they suspect the Chadron game was a fluke. If the cats should happen to loose under option 2 you are screwed, move to a new state!

That doesn't sound like the good ol American ethic: " He who dies with the most $$$ wins." Take the bet and run

It's not an early season gainer, but the easiest bet to strike it rich late in the season the last few years (finally I'm getting some of my money back). :D

This one, along with some of the other posts... sealed the deal. Can't believe I was considering it. I knew Bobcat Nation would inject some sanity into my brain, Thanks. No way I'm betting against the CATS... now let's go BOBCATS - BEAT Davis!!!

Good to see you thinking clearly once again - welcome back. Felt briefly like you were moving to the dark side!

I'm pretty sure I would've had to have won at least a grand in order to do anything positive to my spirits following last week's game, so catatac, unless you're wagering at least that much, DON'T BET AGAINST OUR CATS!!!!

Only bet FOR the Cats. They will win this game by 10 or more points. Count on it.
