What's the surprise. Dougherty is a jackass who never gives the Cats any credit for anything. He's a pompous fool, I put absolutely zero regard in anything he has to say. I'm pretty sure he must be closely related to Doug Fullerton... only people with the same blood could be so completely clueless!longhorn_22 wrote:One UM player on 2nd team and one on the honorable mention? And no Cats at all? Very disappointed in Matt Dougherty.

In this case it is one mans opinion- Matt Dougherty from the SportsNetwork.Cat Grad wrote:Just like the weekly poll, the ADs (in some institutions the SIDs have enough responsibility) vote for these teams.
Preseason guesses are nothing more than something to chat about, kind of like predicting the winner of the next presidential election.

I didn't rip him, and yes he is on top of the list regarding knowledge of I-AA football, but who can keep track of who's the best of over 100 teams with a full preseason squad, 2 months before the first kickoff?GrizinWashington wrote:Rip on Matt all you like (and yes, I'm dissappointed and surprised to see only 5 BSC players as well), but let's be honest. The guy knows more about I-AA football than the rest of us put together.
All you can base an individuals prediction on is stats from last year, current health, team potential, etc.
I pay little, if any attention to this kind of stuff. I read the article early this morning and didn't take the time to post it on BN (yes, if a 'Cat had been on the list I would probably have done so).

Just for the sake of argument does anyone know over maybe the last 4 or 5 years how many of The Sports Network pre-season All-Americans actually became All-Americans--at least maybe an average #/year?GOKATS wrote:I didn't rip him, and yes he is on top of the list regarding knowledge of I-AA football, but who can keep track of who's the best of over 100 teams with a full preseason squad, 2 months before the first kickoff?GrizinWashington wrote:Rip on Matt all you like (and yes, I'm dissappointed and surprised to see only 5 BSC players as well), but let's be honest. You didn't Go, and I agree completely with your statement that it's only one person's opinion. Bozone got in a few low blows, though.GOKATS wrote:I didn't rip him, and yes he is on top of the list regarding knowledge of I-AA football, but who can keep track of who's the best of over 100 teams with a full preseason squad, 2 months before the first kickoff?GrizinWashington wrote:Rip on Matt all you like (and yes, I'm dissappointed and surprised to see only 5 BSC players as well), but let's be honest. True enough, guilty as charged. I've never liked Matt Dougherty, he always seems to bend over backwards to kiss grizzly ass and never has anything good to say about MSU - as a Cat fan, he just rubs me the wrong way. I do appreciate all the work he does for I-AA as a classification, I wish there were more like him.GrizinWashington wrote:You didn't Go, and I agree completely with your statement that it's only one person's opinion. I'll blame my remarks on the medications!
