Houck mentions rematch in postgame

Post by aucat » Sat Nov 22, 2025 10:22 pm

I certainly don't want to get ahead of any playoff games, but wouldn't it be something if we DID have a rematch with
the gris in Bobcat Stadium? First things first though. There are other very dangerous teams out there that we have to go through, but I love the fact that we will now have the homefield advantage all the way! Go Cats!

If we have a rematch in Bozeman the griz will be lucky to keep our victory margin to single digits.

It might not be this year but it's only a matter of time before the Cats and Griz do play each other in the playoffs at some point. I've always wondered if a playoff game would cause the trophy to change hands again if the regular season loser won the playoff game.

There probably isn't a rule for that, but when you look at games in the BSC tournament in VB or BB, that doesn't affect the Brawl Series score. Obviously that's a different set of rules, but I'd argue the postseason matchup doesn't count for the trophy exchange. Just my argument, but I could see the other side of the coin too.

Also, doesn't the trophy already have little placeholders for every year in the future, or is it just the current/next year that is on there blank? There might not be room for extra years.

Good point. I'm not sure about that but I bet you're right.

I'd guess you're right and that the trophy would stay with the regular season winner, but it would be rather awkward for the team to have it for 11 months knowing they lost a more important playoff game.

Article about the trophy. I'm thinking it only travels based on the winner of the Brawl.

Even if it does move with a playoff win, it's just moving back into the BAC after getting some fresh air for about 30 minutes.
